My guess is due to the nature of this app (catching keystrokes globally), this app wouldn't be allowed in the App Store.

Me too. Right now everyone seems to be comparing "Android as an OS vs the iPhone". That doesn't really make sense. Either compare iPhone vs the individual phones, or compare iOS (on all devices) to Android (on all devices).

If I recall, on launch day of the iPhone App Store, many of the "Premium" versions of apps were in the $4.99 to $9.99 range, but prices quickly bottomed out.

The APIs in Lion which enable the saving and resume are built to do their reading and writing asynchronously. So long as the developer makes use of the new system APIs, it should be a nicer experience for a case like Logic with its signific

Great points. I wonder though, what if the monkey had intended to take the self-portrait. I'm not saying this was necessarily the case this time, but I wonder what implications this would have. Then again, since the monkey lacks a languag

It depends which country you're from. In North America we tend to refer to companies as singular, but this is not so common in the UK for example, where they're usually referred to as plural.

I'm wondering, though, what use would Google make of P9? I guess it might make a great fit with Go.

The unfortunate thing I don't think a lot of regular users even know about the Task Switcher tray, and really they shouldn't have to. But I don't have data to back up "a lot of regular users", just anecdotal experience with them.

Whatever you do, don't try to limit your app just if it's running on a jailbroken device. There are many legitimate reasons for Jailbreaking an iOS device. I've done it countless times to my devices (fellow iOS developer here), and I've nev

Looks incredible! One note though, the page seems to partially break for me in Safari on the Mac (the sidebar overlaps onto the content as I scroll horizontally). But the tech looks incredible. Good work for releasing this!

Though Xcode 4 does support git, I've stuck with using git from the command line mostly, as I'd had some issues with it in Xcode 4 (betas, mind you). My guess is it's a lot more stable now. Having said that, I still use it from the command

It matters to Apple if you want to run unapproved software on an iPad, or heaven forbid install Linux on it. Doesn't it make more sense that Apple is trying to build a large and consumer friendly platform (approved apps) and that it would

What about the usage of tags such as <header> being nested inside <section>s? This is what I've taken to lately in my limited web dev, because it feels like the correct way forward. Though I'm guessing those new HTML tags pr

They recoup the costs when you buy the highly marked up hardware. I know I've certainly bought enough of it over the years. Apple has incredibly high margins on these devices, and this service is to sell more of them. It's a brilliant plan

If you couldn't upload your own music files, and thus only play tracks you've purchased, then this isn't much of a cloud "music locker" at all. It's essentially just letting you play/stream the music you own from multiple devices (where cur

Very true although I think in spirit with the general tune around HN it might make sense to say "Yes but pay $4.99 if you want me to sustain development" which I think is reasonable (and something I need to do more of).

My guess is if they do this, expect to see it relatively cheap. It wouldn't surprise me to see it at $29 like Snow Leopard, though I expect it around $49.

I seem to feel they ripped of "Classics.app" more than anybody. That app uses a bookshelf, to display ebooks for reading, just like iBooks. Though there's a part of me thinking the designers for Classics.app asked Shipley for permission, bu
