Ah, there's nothing quite like trying to hijack an issue for your preconceived partisan hobby horse. Tell us more about how those of us who believe in investing in public education and transit infrastructure while cutting the military&

Rather than incompetent, it looks brazen to me. They don't do this unless they know they can get away with it, and that makes it scary.

It seems to me (corrections welcome), that medical specialists are way, way more interchangeable than programmers. Each patient has a chart that follows them around through the hospital and each specialist reads the chart, makes their deci

Yeah, that's what I'm disagreeing with. Maven doesn't require an IDE and uses a convention over configuration based approach where it will run against the public repo with zero config. Moreover, it's significantly '

I've gotta take beef with the deployment comment, we use Java at my job and the deployment is quite specifically awesome. There is a single package management system, maven repositories, and multiple build options using that managemen

Yeah, but Austrian economists are a tiny minority, and were much tinier before January 2009. The political/media system gives them 50% weight, not the success, or lack thereof, of their ideas.

The homicide division doesn't prevent murders, they solve them. People generally credit methodology changes under the term 'community policing' for the turn-around. Basically, the idea is that rather than just riding in, cra

There have been like 5,000 articles pointing at spying under Obama in the past week, and a remarkable lack of liberals defending him for it. I'd suggest that you're the one bringing political spin into the equation.

Did you read the first line of my comment where I said I wasn't in favor of actual violent rioting? It's right up there. I've knocked on probably 1,000 doors and made probably 5,000 phone calls for democrats over the last 10

I'm not necessarily wishing for riots with innocent shopkeepers' livelihoods being trashed. But I am saying that the normal democratic methods seem to fail us here -- this is a real "don't blame me, I voted for kodos&quo

Non-destructive ways of doing that, like what? Electing a new President who very believably promises to do the opposite of what the last one did?

Having a first-pass flag for keywords that correlate with skirting the edges of the law is actually completely proper. Not clearing them quickly enough if it turns out they're completely kosher is the problem here.

If funding was at one level, and you decrease it, and the backlog of undone case work increases afterwards, it points to a pretty simple conclusion. I'm talking very specifically about administrative issues here, philosophical musing

I wonder if this was an intended consequence of cutting IRS funding or whether those doing the cutting literally didn't think about it beyond "fuck'em!". And now I'm wondering which scenario is more dissapointing.

Not to mention, even if it is actually that respectable, the FBI really doesn't like hippie protests and have a history of making sure that they don't stay respectable.

This comment's a great example of what he's talking about. You're not even worried about Farmville, you're worried about extremely pedantic grammar corrections that most of us got over by the 3rd grade or so.

Totally impartial stater of QUOTES, actually. 'Facts' implies a journalistic responsibility to call out quotes that are inaccurate, but they very much don't ever do that.

It's illegal for the NSA to record it too though, right? It was illegal for the telcos to go along with the first round of warrantless wiretapping, it took an act of congress to make it retroactively legal.
