You are speaking of developer freedom, not end-user freedom, which was parent's question. zlib is a library, not an end-user application.

Seriously, most of your facts are wrong. Source: I'm the president of VideoLAN, I did the VLC relicensing[1], and spent a lot of time on GPL/stores compatibility [2]. VLC was GPLv2+ and so was libVLC (the engine library that was s

Which is why, for VLC, we contacted ourselves all the mirrors (+ quite a few new ones), and built our own new mirroring system, that is faster (and more reliable) than the SF one. The mirrors had no problem with that, since we were already

The question is more: why are people moving away from Fedora, when you look at the stats: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Statistics . Fedora 14 was way more used than any other later version. I think this is related to

All the TVs are moving to native SDKs, in order to have good games and good multimedia apps. This is true of Samsung, Sony and LG. Games on Firefox OS are a joke. If you want extra codecs, media players or media center, you need to write th

First, I fail to see the difference with the UX of the other smart TVs. But mostly, as it is still Firefox OS, I don't see how people will be able to do cool multimedia applications, without access to native code and threads. Implement
