I often use that approach but (especially when you're importing from a seperate package) the compiler will sometimes view MyType as just an alias for string and won't catch typos. Am I missing something in how to use this?

All my browsers (firefox, chrome and safair) on mac have this behavior at least. Do none of the windows browsers have the feature?

fnm was a game changer for me, it is significantly quicker than nvm. It was mentioned in the article but swc as an alternative typescript compiler has really sped up builds.
