Played with bitcoin a few years ago, and sold all but a few fragments of the last coin. The few fragments are now worth as much as my original spend! I consider all cryptocurrencies to be way too high risk for my desired investment profile

I went for an interview at a game company before I got my current job. As well as the technical questions, a large part of my interview seemed to be indirectly about my attitude to working many extra hours and days. I explained that surely

Even though I sit all day and most of the evening, my 40 minute commute is mostly standing and walking, and I get up every half an hour or so to make a cup of tea, or to stretch, or so look out of the window for a minute (it helps my eyes..

This might well be valid according to the standard, but I find it very depressing how many people consider it reasonable behavior.

Even a rule of 2 would be helpful in a lot of code I've worked on. It seems like nobody wants to build a function to do the thing thats needed, they have to build an abstraction or a framework.

I'd like to be able to sit much of the time but have frequent short periods of standing. But even adjustable standing desks don't really facilitate that well, and most of the adjustable standing desks I've seen are _worse_ si

How can a website that lets people upload music files and comment on them, and play the music POSSIBLY need $170 MILLION to operate? I just don't get what they could possibly need that amount of money for.

I like this a lot. This seems to be how it should be. However, not sure I'd use it. I guess I'll try it out in a VM and see how it goes :)

I presume the incremental cost of treating each additional patient will be considerably smaller once the overheads of treating the first person are made.

As for proof of work, am I right in assuming it works like this :- Add a field to store a random number. Keep generating values for this field until the hash of the structure has 'n' leading zeros. Is that more or less correct?
