I don't understand why the term ride-sharing is even used when talking about Uber and Lyft. Has anyone ever gone with a driver who wasn't just driving an unlicensed cab? Or is it referring to multiple riders sharing one car?

Aside from using a thermometer, you could also look at the relative temperatures to decide which oil to pick. Olive oil started smoking last time? Try Canola oil or clarified butter for high-temp searing next time. I specifically look at it

I'm honestly not sure, I'd say getting off Google is the "better" choice with that kind of arbitrary risk of a ban.

But most places won't shun you if you merely try to use the wrong card. Imaging bringing out your Amex and being escorted off the premises and permanently banned.

I moved to Florida from Sweden 1.5y ago. The most extreme weather preparations I've done in the past were putting the garden furniture in the garage so it wouldn't tip over. Currently prepping for Dorian in Orlando :)

Agreed. I just replaced my wife's brakes, rotors and pads, at a grand total of $350. The old pads probably had about 50% left after 50k miles. If you don't tailgate and slam your brakes all the time, they last a long time, even on

Or because it's very non-repairable? I've repaired two of my old NESes, but wouldn't try my TV either. As a happy car DIYer I really appreciate when parts come in small replaceable units that I can swap out.

To my knowledge gaming computers are normally more in the 500W-1200W range, though granted you rarely max out the 1200W. I used to sit north of 500W with my relatively modest build a few years back (i5-2500K@4.2GHz and only one GPU).

Well, you answered the question for me "You just have to live in a metro area, not suburbs". I'm not saying I couldn't do both of those things when working from home, merely that as an added bonus of working out of an of

Couldn't agree more. For me the cafes aren't feasible due to confidentiality, but not knowing or caring about the people making the noise is a lot better.

Next time someone insists on standing, I'll counter with do pushups while you're talking instead. Should shut most people up fast enough.

I'm so glad my team is distributed across different offices and we do our stand-ups at our desks. Having hypermobility in my knees, and most other joints, I get tired from standing still more than 2-3 minutes...

Not to discredit your opinion, we're all different. For me the commute is worth the benefit of human interactions, seeing my coworkers for lunch and I also go to the gym next to my office. If I could only have my own private office it&

Just a thought: Most people have morals and wouldn't have sex with an underage person, nor murder someone, just because their boss told them to. They would tell their boss to go fuck himself.

While this isn't great, as a consumer I don't really see too big of a problem. If I get a raspberry pi to use for home automation or as a media center, do I really need it to work with every USB-C cable? I'd think I'd ju
