Yeah. I was wondering how easy it would be to classify using a language model/models. ALthough I don't know how it'd work with binary blobs, multiple languages, etc. I think certain things would be picked up pretty easily e.g

Is it easy to find a list of packages that have been pulled from python/npm in the past? Would be interesting to train some models against it

For many movies, sure. I'm pretty sure the Marvel franchise is shat out by an algorithm.

Perhaps the main problem in the collective discussion is regarding consciousness as discrete and not a spectrum from minimal (slime molds?) to ultimate consciousness (ability to simulate/understand/create the entire universe?)

You might as well conclude that my fingers typing this post aren't conscious. It's a weird argument. The analogy might be more valid if arguing its not possible for a third party to actually determine whether an entity/system

It's going to be even weirder once Google et al gives AI more and more agency to interact with people and objects the real world.

I delved into Python recently to work on some data science hobbies and a Chess program and it's frankly been fairly shit compared with other languages I use. Typescript (by way of comparison with other non-low-level languages) just fee

The parent put it too strongly but it's equally naive to assume that track records and public commitments mean anything to a privately-held company, with a commitment to profit shareholders, run by Jeff Bezos.

I have ADHD. Being bored is simply.. not something that happens naturally. I have a zillion unfinished things, too many hobbies, too many games, too much work that I was supposed finish yesterday. My brain gets filled with all of this junk

For this reason I wish I could run something locally to generate the same analysis UI and therefore not put any load on the Lichess servers.

Good idea. Tho in the code itself (from a cursory glance) in L141 Sequencing(...) I see a bunch of nested maps - I don't know Scala but I think this may be a performance issue? Rather than hyperfocusing on parallelism or event system

The youtube algorithm can do alright here. The key is a recommendation system that actually segments you into the right sort of place, spotify doesn't really work properly for me in this way. Other than that I have no idea. I find stuf

Languages are hard enough without that! I wonder if anyone has ever tried to make a "nightmare" language that is as hard to learn as possible. Thinking like.. 13 tones, pops, clicks, whistles, every possible grammatical structure

Unsure about what it's like to rent in the US but in Australia it's horrible. Really weak laws around tenants rights.

Haven't used Terraform - ARM templates have a workable (though not elegant) expression system where you can use parameters to resolve stuff - so you indeed have one IaC definition and use your CI/CD to set parameter values and the

Yes. I personally prefer having IaC in the same repo as the code. Any changes to the code OR the IaC uses the git flow as per normal and requires a PR. When the PR is merged to develop its pushed to QA environments automatically - therefore

C# was never really slow in the same way as python, etc. And anyway 99% of the time you're gonna be slow because the sack of meat writing the program screwed up some aspect of the system design or the code. Unless you're using s

As a .NET veteran, if anything .NET is 10x more relevant now that it's cross-platform... you don't need Windows to develop, you can containerise your apps and run it anywhere, it's significantly better now than in the old d

I'm interested in perspectives on this from outside the US or Anglosphere generally - I'm from Australia and the education is largely similar if not worse as it inherited British hierarchicalism (is that a word? it is now!)

I didn't imply that was my proof. I simply asserted, based on my knowledge, that it correlates very closely. Feel free to do your own research to see whether data backs this up. I'll even type it into Google for you! :-) https:&#
