You said it yourself, it's a PR piece. After signing a massive deal with Amazon, you want the CTO to say "yeah, our software could easily run on Azure or GCP, but Amazon just gave us a massive deal so we're sticking with AWS.

I bet fraud detection is a big part of it, if not the only part of it.

Yeah, airlines don't like that at all. Doing it once is highly unlikely to result in any action, but you're playing with fire either way.

Well if you miss the first leg, it'll be pretty difficult to use subsequent legs anyway.

I still use SVN professionally, but new projects use git. When you've got a ton of projects and their associated deployment pipelines all using SVN, the cost of migrating is non-zero. Someday I'll probably start (slowly) migrating

Technically it's Amazon's money, not yours. You can't write the donations off on your taxes, for example.

No, it's really not a helpful exercise. An actual helpful exercise is to determine when an official story doesn't make sense, and to understand that there is probably more to it. In this case, the official story make perfect sense

All you're doing is letting your imagination run wild because you don't want to believe the simplest (and most likely) explanation. This isn't helpful to anyone.

No, of course not. But pilots aren't going to aviationweather.gov while they're flying, either. They get that info from the controller or ATIS.

Southwest's meltdown was definitely not an attack. Their crew scheduling software was so outdated that it required people to call in and speak to a human to report when they were out of position due to a cancelled flight. The sheer

There are PDF generators that work just like that. As a web developer who uses C# on the backend, QuestPDF is exactly what I want.

I don't think it's SEO so much as the evolving complexity of websites. When there's a .html extension, you're usually pointing at an actual static file sitting on the server. On the page where I'm typing this (/

There's so much more to a smart watch than a fully-customizable watch face. While I fully believe that Apple should open up to third-party faces, I am quite content with the customization options that they offer now.
