Aside from all of the additional accounting/reporting/etc. burdens placed on publicly-traded companies, there are no differences in legal requirements between publicly-traded and privately-held companies. > Nor have they explai

Privately-held companies, to be specific. But context is important, so if we're talking about finance then public/private company is perfectly acceptable.

Not even close to what this does. It basically runs a headless version of VSCode on the remote machine, with all of the necessary extensions, and your local version of VSCode controls it.

You either got incredibly lucky, or are talking about experiences in the (relatively distant) past. I say this as someone who also used to run email servers, and long since gave up on it.

People being purely hypocritical when it benefits them is an all too common theme these days. As far as politics go, the only goal is power. Any steps towards gaining more power are right and just, regardless of how hypocritical they may be

When people talk about "private companies" they're referring to entities that are not government-owned/controlled. Being listed on the stock market does not change that.

You do know that Elon does not currently (and may not ever) own Twitter, right?

Twitter has done nothing to earn the benefit of the doubt in situations like this. Quite the opposite, in fact.

It basically runs everything on the remote machine. So when you hit F5 to debug, the code is actually (transparently) running on the remote machine. It's pretty cool.

So then maybe "society is in ruins because people are allowed to own things I don't think they should be allowed to own" is a bit hyperbolic, yes?

You live in the US, but refer to "their" society as if you're not a part of it. So if "their" society is in ruins, why do you choose to continue living there? Surely you can head off to any number of countries that

A lot of services (like Netflix) block datacenter IPs to prevent this sort of thing.

Any computer can't have any IP, but the routing rules have nothing to do with physical location. Routers advertise to their neighbors the IP block(s) that they serve. As a super high level example, your ISP's core router would adv

Every problem that gets solved is one less thing to campaign on. And since we don't hold our politicians accountable, they can just campaign on the same things over and over and never do anything about them.

The Democrats are not interested in anything that isn't gun control, and the Republicans aren't interested in gun control. $40b to Ukraine though? Full bipartisan support, passed in no time at all. You do the math.

You could purchase a DVD containing MacOS, but calling them "legit" (as far as installing on a Hackintosh) is a stretch. You're paying for the physical disc, not a license to the OS. The only way to get a license to use MacOS

The worst part is, as you called out with Biden, the intolerance isn't even consistently applied. They'll forgive people when it's convenient for them, and everyone else is irredeemable.
