I think there's an important distinction between "not caring" and being detached from our own opinions. Say you're having an awful day and snap at me. If I were to "not care", I might just go about my business and that would be fine. But

++ "Silly" probably wouldn't be the word I'd have chosen, but it's a good point. If I'm building a system, I want it to be quality work, and I don't want the programmer who has to deal with it in 2 years to be cursing my name :). Thus I s

Clicking on "Show Images" is no faster than clicking on a verify link. ...and although you and I know that loading images requires an extra HTTP request, it's not intuitive.

++ My line of thinking lately is to try to solve a big problem on a small scale very completely, with very few resources. If I can do that, maybe I can inspire the next person to step it up.

I see a problem with language here. At the end of the day, you have to make a computer understand what you want. Sure, you can increase the expressiveness of your computer language. You can even have it pick an algorithm for you under lo

In the East Bay, I highly recommend LAN Minds (LMI.net). One of their support guys actually advised me to select a cheaper package because the old wiring in our house wouldn't support the faster speeds of the more expensive plan. Super pr

The author's assertions about code size are a bit misleading. Backbone is 4.6k minified , and 41k normally. Most frameworks provide minified versions of their libraries, because in web dev, you don't own the page. Also, unlike server cod

right, but say you had an `var array = ['bacon', 'eggs']`. You can call a function with these arguments with `fn.apply(null, array)` (yeah it's ugly but it's how it's done in JS). This doesn't work with the `new` keyword. EDIT: also, a cl

(apologies for the double post) Doing away with `new` in this way also has the added advantage of allowing people to create objects with varargs, which is impossible otherwise.

This is why Pjs is so small - it's just prototypal inheritance, with the bad parts taken out. You have to know how prototypes work to use Pjs.

Yeah, I'll admit that's a bit confusing. I did want to provide a way do something like Object.create in environments where it's not available. This way you can do `MySubclass.prototype = new MyClass` and not have to worry about the initia

I should have mentioned it in the README, but if you read carefully, the function you pass to P() is only called once, and you're adding functions to the prototype. So it's actually pretty memory-efficient.

I'd like to see a language that's as easy to use on the shell as bash (optional quoting, chaining, etc), but is as powerful as the more general-purpose scripting languages (Ruby/Python/TCL/Perl/etc). If no such thing exists I think I'm gon

Ha! Yeah, it's totally not done yet, but yes, certainly intended as a piece of insanity. With all seriousness, of course. The model layer still needs a good deal of work, and I think it might be fun to write up some tutorials or something
