On the one hand, better GC is better but on the other, it doesn't matter all that much. You tend to want zero per frame allocation as it is and that would probably not change. As long as your less frequent garbage doesn't overtake

I think the major problem with Unity is they're just rudderless. They just continue to buy plugins and slap in random features but it's really just in service of more stickers on the box and not a wholistic plan. They've tri

It's not hard, but it's one of those tools where the user has to think about how the tool is implemented. Even if the abstractions get leaky, people yern for goal/workflow oriented UX.

This doesn't even make sense even if you believe it. Why wouldn't both sides of any argument use "a superhuman persuasion engine"?

You're confusing the final stage of grief with actually liking it.

Even with git, it should be possible to grab the single file needed without the rest of the repo, but i'ts still trying to round a square peg.

What about Radeon cards, or consoles?

by jayd16 10mo ago
Consoles and their install base set the target performance envelope. If your machine can't keep up with a 5 year old console then you should lower expectations. And like, when have onboard GPUs ever been good? The fact that they&#x27

Its just easier to write off the full value as e-waste than to try to turn a profit selling a meager amount of used hardware.

So they replaced a TCP connection with no congestion control with a sycnronous poll of an endpoint which is inherently congestion controlled. I wonder if they just tried restarting the stream at a lower bitrate once it got too delayed. The

Personally, I'd rather make something good instead of cleaning up a mess. But beyond that, I'm really not looking forward to trying to discover new good libraries, tools, and such in 5 years time. The signal to noise is surely dr

You can go to a restaurant to see new dishes (which isn't nothing) but it wont exactly teach you how to cook.

Yeah, I really appreciate that JB has not made an utter mess of my IDE and has not forced anything on me.

Where are you getting the concept of ego and hubris from? I don't really see much personification of JB's public facing identity.

I would say that there's a difference between simply a stateful circuit using capacitors etc and a digital register, at least in so far as a "hey look what I made" kind of post. I have no qualms saying a stateful device can h

The real difference is the quality of the moderation. A global feed is terrible if it can be gamed.

I'm not saying every analog signal processor is surely memory free, simply that you can imagine one that is. But I'm not really familiar with what that is.
708.
by jayd16 10mo ago
I don't know. Analog signal processing is clearly less memory than a register, no? So a line exists somewhere and I think it's way before no RAM.

There's plenty of examples there of multiple games per studio. Hard to get public into per "team". Teams are mutable within a studio and devs roll off and onto other teams. Arguably teams are tied to and only ever ship a si

If you want to make art, you can do whatever you want. The issue is JB has seemed to push custom engines as not simply an artistic choice but the utilitarian choice as well.

by jayd16 10mo ago
Ok for a decade of a senior dev, that's still like $2mil. That's in the same order of magnitude as a small AA game. Supposedly the dev budget for the last pokémon game Z-A was only $13 million.

Why is that? It would devalue property but renters want that. It would only hurt the rent seekers and speculators, no?
