Use Rider or Visual Studio. Debugging coroutines should be easy. You just can't step over any yield points so you need to break after execution is resumed. It's mildly tedious but far from impossible.

You can structure coroutines with a context so the runtime has an idea when it can drop them or cancel them. Really nice if you have things like game objects with their own lifecycles. For simple callback hell, not so much.

What is the scenario where windows becomes so unpopular, computer games stop being made entirely instead of another OS filling that gap?

It might be a case where they're projecting costs and a pessimistic Fortnite market a few years out. I doubt this something you do after the money is gone. You'd look ahead and see your runway in a down market is way too short a

The point is that Proton puts them in a win win position. If Windows stays popular, they're fine. If Windows tanks, they're fine.

A game can be massively popular but many many games fail to hit the mark. Many do not see success and many do not even ship.

Ok well what if I draw the foreground and you add something to the background and now my changes visually block your changes? Even if the file is merged, our work is wasted and must be redone. P4 is often popular in industry because artis

I think the real sin is just cutting against the grain on your services and library boundaries. It's not that hard to version and deploy multiple services and libraries. If you need the flexibility of that separation, it can very much

Look at Mr. Never seen an off by one error over here. I realize that putting a remote service call in between functionality adds complexity, but this is just so laughably hyperbolic.

That doesn't really address the game dev use case then. Artists and designers want to prevent conflicts, not just throw away half the work and redo it.

The best solution I've seen is prevention. What you can do in P4 is work in trunk, make sure you have latest and lock binary files you're working on. If you do that you won't have conflicts (at the file level anyway). Unlik

What's the plan for large files that can't be merged? Images, executable binaries, encrypted files, that sort of thing?

Totally agree. After trying to flesh out Unreal's git plugin, it really shows how far from ideal git really is. Partial checkouts are awkward at best, LFS locks are somehow still buggy and the CLI doesn't support batched updates.

Windows update is how it used to work and it's terrible. An update breaks old apps, or downloads a every single version (not feasible). Who would want to run windows update to install a new app? It's just a bad idea. Today we ju

At least in LA/Hollywood movies still hold a little bit of respect. People are in here complaining about trailers before a movie, like it's not a 100 year tradition.
