You don't want to use price to earnings for a company in a growth phase like this. The reason is that they are likely spending their revenue to grow the business (in the simplest example, buying more servers and staffing up).

I think what makes Facebook above average is that at IPO they are looking better than Google did at IPO. I think we can all agree Google is above average. 1) Current P/E is 74 (Google IPOed at 132 and was proven to be undervalued). 2) Faceb

The same philosophy holds true for SMS notifications. We (Bizen.com) send SMS notifications to our customers. If they respond to the SMS, it is directed to their account manager.

Related: LinkedIn has a P/E of over 600 today. It makes Facebook's 100 seem almost conservative.

tldr; Once you have substantial passive income, you will not want a job working for someone else. How did this long, uninformative dribble make it to the front page?

I want that too. In fact, on my todo list is to research the other database providers for Heroku to see if any of them offer this capability.

The post is from December 2010 with no follow-up. It was likely a joke. HN got trolled.

75mm shares at a 175mm valuation means a share price of $2.33. Shouldn't the strike price be at the current valuation?

If this thing gets good open rates, advertising is a very viable option. It sounds like they have a delay from when the email is submitted until they send it out. I would think that is enough time to find a relevant sponsor for the topic at

Simpler solution: Add MBA with 15" screen. Retina display only on MBP models. Nice stair step pricing and less confusing overlap. Either slimmer and lighter or faster and better graphics. No 11" MBP because people demanding nice graphics wa

StartupWeekend is not the best place to really start a company. I know it has been done (and I have done it myself). Go have fun at StartupWeekend and if you find some people you like working with then do a real startup with them later.

I use Doppler on my iPhone and my iPad to do things like run rake tasks, view logs, and use the console. My only complaint with Doppler has been that it doesn't recognize newly added rake tasks.
