Glass chips and breaks. "Tupperware" can take punishment for years. Decades even. Our household started replacing plastic containers with glass last year and we've already cracked 3 and smashed 1. The plastics, used for pet f

As someone using ghost self-hosted, I love the simplicity. So, if I'm reading the code right (never used ruby, don't code much), you're implementing the paywall by serving the gated content from your own servers? Is that righ

Doesn't reasoning like this fall under the ecological fallacy? You can't use statistics to predict the outcome for the individual. If I get a colonoscopy tomorrow there is not a 1/1000 chance I'll die of a perforated bow

Maxing out the sliders on bunny.net's pricing page (1TB video uploads/ 1TB bandwidth per month) with 8 replication points tops out at $80/month. That's with free encoding and transcoding. So, very affordable right now if

Like I said in another comment, I'm only halfway through. I'm not sure what the denouement is going to be or where they are going to take the evidence that there have been urban civilisations that were not ruled by kings or other

Yoga Nidra for sure. Except it can be really effective at putting you to sleep. I now have trouble listening to any track on this album without passing out: https://open.spotify.com/album/00Dzgh60bmNigM9fvckKa3?si=sqO..

I'm about halfway through and it's fascinating. I love a "here is how the dominant paradigm is an over-simplification of reality" story and I also love pre-literary history so I'm finding a lot to enjoy.

I'm working on two projects this year. First is a routine/task management app designed for people with inattentive ADHD. The goal is develop automated strategies that catch and counter the tendency for such tools to spontaneously

Look into guanfacine for combatting anxiety especially around task initiation. And if you still have some Ritalin on hand try microdosing it. 10mg tablet dissolved in 1 litre = 10ug per ml. I see beneficial effects on 5-10ugrams.

Exactly this. About 7 years ago I bought a secondhand Alphasmart and started using it. I loved it for what it was but I had to stop using it because I could not see enough of what I had written. I’m now using a Pi with a monitor in portrai

In my experience perfectionism is one of the meta-stories we use to explain to ourselves why we have trouble executing. When starting things is hard, spending more time on what you are already doing is easier and feels productive. When star

“What they’re actually saying” was the authors point in that paragraph. How things are said is important. Why things are said in a certain way is important. Why frame being turned away a result of guest skin colour instead of host racism? T

I'm a parent of two young children and I thought this was atrocious when I read it in 2014. You're not raising buddies, you're raising independent adults. You're there to help them find their direction, not tie them to y

No. Unless you have a bunch of stuff you need to pull out of a database try Hugo plus Bootstrap. I learned both in less time than it took me to give up wrestling with some damn fancy drag and drop theme engine with nightmare CSS. This artic
