It is because this is that offensive to anyone who writes objective-c for a living. First of all, you are using properties to fake dot syntax for method calls. This is all kinds of wrong. Second of all, you are shortening the names of type

And just as a follow up, it's kind of sad because it looks like you put a lot of work in this. But as someone who writes nothing but Objective-C (well, some C++ too) all day, every day, for a living. I would never ever use this. Mostly be

What an abortion. Seriously just stop. Every time I see someone misuse properties like this on Objective-C, I want to hire them to work at my company just so I can fire them. And then I would call them a few days later and apologize for b

iMovie isn't free. It's $14.99. It's also slow as shit where Shave is fast as you know what - for a very specific type of editing. Trust me, I've done the comparison of same editing tasks in both and I can do in a minute in Shave what t

This bummed me out, not only for Shave, but as a user. But, you know, Apple's direction with media is a little f'd in my estimation. AVFoundation is dope, but it's a huge step back from QuickTime. Shave 2 is written using it, and so far

It supports anything that QuickTime can play, some formats better than others. But I use it to edit DiVX. Note, that it will always save a quicktime movie, even if you are editing an AVI or MPEG, but it won't re-encode, it just changes co

The problem is getting customers of version 1 onto version 2. There is no way to do this with MAS. I have a mechanism built into Shave so I can push "news", but it's annoying and bad user experience.

I'm pulling my video editor Shave ( http://shavevideo.com ) out of the Mac App Store for these reasons, though most specifically the lack of paid upgrades. For a $10 video editor that, quite frankly, beats the pants off a lot of crap out t

I think it's more like you want Apple to want to switch to Ruby. But it ain't going to happen. They need the drop down to C without the run around.

Love this. I've been doing more and more "experiential retailing" stuff with iPads (and giant perceptive pixel panels in openframeworks/c++), so this would be awesome to see actual app usage happening in-store. How does it deal with recor

It's pretty much 1:1 to git command line. Most times when someone on my team screws up a commit, it's because they botched the command line (the inverse of this article's claims). Fix it in Tower in a few minutes in a visually simple way t

No offense, but your aesthetic sensibilities suck if you think this argo UML is a desktop class application in the realm of natively built desktop class apps. These apps belong to what I refer to as the "just barely good enough" class of de

No shit sherlock. That's not what he's doing, he's exposing blocks as properties because he couldn't wrap his head around indentation which is the wrong motivation. Maybe read the source before condescending next time.

It should be a category on NSObject so it supports anything that supports fast enumeration which could be anything. And the indentation in the above is correct. The way you've implemented it is "anti-conventional" and bad form, imho.
