This is quite helpful, but it does not answer the question of why they don't switch to larger blocks now if most of the devs are in favor of it. You also have to get the users to switch, in particular miners and exchanges, so therein m

Yes. The research and technology certainly exists in academia, though I don't think it has really been commercialized. Whether it's actually going to be better in practice is going to depend on your workload and hardware, but RMA

This appears to be from 2003. For people who are interested in this, there is still a lot of very interesting research being done in real-time systems. I don't think in garbage collection in particular, though. Rather, the interesting

Problem is, the only decent quality machines I've ever had have been ThinkPads. I'm afraid of paying big money for a high-end machine from some other brand and having it turn out to be somewhat of a lemon. Of course there is alway

Wow. This is a big deal I hadn't heard of. Coming after Superfish, this is totally unacceptable. Leonovo is working REALLY REALLY hard to lose loyal technical customers. Imagine doing a clean install and still finding crapware installe

I was complaining that it is "yet another time scale," which is not something we need. That it's arbitrary is also true, but not the thrust of the criticism. I realize it may not have been obvious that that was the thurst of

There is no need for a new time reference at all. That's the point. If someone actually needs to say "before nuclear testing," which is very rare, they should say "before nuclear testing."
