I remember one comment here in HN that mentioned how in the future society will be divided in those above and bellow the API. About the difference in quality of life of those that make the platform, and those that work for it, like the gig

The Typeface work in NGE it's amazing. Despite using the most common typefaces, you can recognize the card titles as the "Evangelion Art Style" despite only using fonts, copywriting and layout as design elements. Plus I love

Could be a lot of reasons: * There it's a strong "vendor lock" in DAWs (Studios don't like to invest in re-training their audio engineers) * Lack of a strong initial sponsor that creates momentum. * Codecs with patents t

I'm not a huge fan of some decisions from Jack's administration at Twitter (like killing Vine and their AR projects, or hiding of the cron feed) but I admire his discipline to manage two companies that by their own should be monum

A tradition for desktop software (mostly 3rd party) was to develop for "future hardware" from the moment you're developing, as Moore's law was a good rule of thumb to predict the future. But for reasons RAM and CPU perf

I'm glad to hear this. But I'll wait a little bit before getting excited. The last independent repair program... was more a miss than a hit. I want to hope for the best, wanting this not to be just a PR move, but a genuine effort

It's a gamble. Opportunity cost it's a real thing. The risk/benefit ratio will depend on the career. In IT, in a lot of jobs, you can have a competitive salary with Bootcamps and self-taught skills. Now ageism it's a thi

That's the reason I jumped to the T430. Same CPU, but can get a 70++ battery for 6-9 hours worth of battery, but kinda the same concept. The only bad thing, you need to mod the keyboard for an t420 for the vintage thinkpad experience.

I had the same worries as someone who with some luck will graduate in his 30s. I went back to college after dropping out when I was in my early 20s. Someone told me "You're going to be X+4 years in 4 years anyway, why not try achi

Well, WhatsApp had to support exotic cases like BlackBerry, Symbian OS (Nokia), and Windows Phone. I will say, dealing with JS stacks, seems easy in comparison to mobile fragmentation from back then.

A lot of people talk about serverless hosting like a new paradigm. But I will say the success of php was the huge amount of hosting providers where you send the files trough FTP, linked a domain and that's it, it's working. No Li

I can see your point in theory. But I find less "it's not repairable to protect you from thieves", and more in line with Apple wanting to sell you a new phone when you drop it, instead of repair it. I'm wanna thing there

My main issue with this, it's how the "only one web engine" creates an unnecessary e-waste, creating artificially obsolete devices. I have an old iPad, I get that Apple doesn't want to support it anymore, fair enough. Bu
