You're right. And I think a side effect it's being gateway product for their hardware software ecosystem like their PCI cards, color correction surfaces and cameras.

Marketing aside, cinematic in this context means more or less "manual control". Something that makes a video look amateurish, it's the phone trying its best to prioritise a 'clear image', but that means changing par

I think that could work too. I wonder if they could do a translation layer, something like Apple with the M1 chips that translates JIT x86 to ARM.

CUDA is the only reason I have an Nvidia card, but if more projects start migrating to a more agnostic environment, I'll be really grateful. Running Nvidia in Linux isn't as much fun. Fedora and Debian can be incredibly reliable s

I don't know why Lenovo likes to throw money to the pit and don't go back to the IBM keyboard layout, I have a t430 with a t420 keyboard mod and despite not being mechanical it's amazing to type on.

Oh yes, I remember that white paper. The conclusion was that if Linus became a Force ghost, he would be able to code 24/7, which would affect the market share of Windows Server 2008.

This. 7zip it's amazing in its own right but some UX choices are weird like by default double clicking a rar file will not open 7zip (vs WinRAR that opens the preview what's files are inside, like any other program). Here you need

The funny thing about big innovations like GaN is that they become mundane and invisible after the hype, but end up in a lot of places without most people realising it (like for Apple users, it's not GaN chargers, it's just the Ma

You're 100% right. This it's the exact same reason why the writers strike affect something that I theory should have not effect as the shooting or editing of a movie. In my experience media production only follows the waterfall mo

Depends. I have a t430 that with the right distro last like 4 to 6 hours depending on usage. It's a chunky laptop, but gets me going when I travel to a place where security can be iffy. So looks like an old VCR, and get less attention

That's a nice tip. I'll try it. I had faced issues trying to run Automatic 1111 + oogabooga webui because of conda conflicts.

This. Conda and Venv in paper should be like docker plug and play... But in practice they can be a hit or miss. Still better than manual global library management.

Me too. My hope is that Intel, AMD, Google, MS and others eventually catch up with a common standard and the software doesn't require special customization as an end user (on paper something like DirectML has potential for this). Anoth

The main issue it's CUDA. Most ML developers use it, or use libraries that depends on CUDA as an envoirments. There are brand agnostic alternatives, but they are less popular and usually slower.

In my experience the vas majority of security attacks to WP sites are plugin related. But blaming WP and php for that is like bashing linux for users installing random binary files with sudo.
