It means pretty much exactly what you say, only its the set top box that's doing the streaming, and the video outputs are only disabled for movies that are still in theaters. I also find it hard to get overly worked up about it - it seems l

Well, no, they don't 'owe' anyone anything but it seems like an uncharacteristic move for Google, which seemed to be the author's point.

It's one line that adds that functionality. One line that shouldn't really have any additional overhead. Hardly seems like a giant glob of obfuscating junk to me.

Apparently the game will be available traditionally for the same price as in North America, or for a smaller amount up front and a recurring subscription fee. Can any economists here speculate as to the relative profitability for Blizzard w

You can't just drop a memristor chip or RAM module into an existing system and have it work. It will take a system redesign. If these truly are a viable storage system, building an interface that's reasonably easily adaptable to the curre

Look at this graph and be afraid. It does not come from Earth First. It does not come from the Sierra Club. It was not drawn by Socialists or Nazis or Osama Bin Laden or anyone from Goldman-Sachs. If you are a Republican Tea-Partier, rest

Well, I stand corrected then. I thought the article seemed to imply that it wasn't a non-standard extension, just a standard extension that had only been implemented correctly in Mozilla. Looking back, it seems like you are correct though.

Well, that Quake 2 port uses WebGL - as far as I can tell this should work out of the box in any browser with the right implementations.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. You've managed to come up with suggestions that would result in the first iteration of the software I came up with. The results of the focus testing we did (mostly with a group of autistic adults) ende

Curly-quotes (or at least the ones that do left-quote, right-quote anyway) play hell with UTF-8 encoding in HTML - for simplicity's sake I'd rather not deal with them, especially for documents that might (and should be) placed online for ev

Probably because it's far easier to scale up production on a smaller, 4th generation screen than it would be to scale up production on a larger, less established device.

Was the Korean War not widely remembered in the 1960s? The author talks as if he'd never heard of the place before, and apparently needed to research the war. Says something interesting about the current news cycle if true.

I agree with the sentiment - anyone expecting to make a ton of money off of a career in Native American studies is naive at best. That said, the author did manage to be hired in multiple tenure-track positions, and made it to an Ivy League
