I am the OP. I think it was because I was an overseas employee and the founders just didn't shell out equity to people who were not based out of US. I saw the equity distribution sheet that was disclosed after the acquisition as part o

Yep, very common. Even companies with upfront pricing (like AWS) will give custom discounts to enterprise users. And for Startups, it's not uncommon to give discounts because sometimes you just want the logo.

I think up until now we have been at a point where industry has been growing (big companies getting bigger, lots more startups) enough that there's enough jobs for experienced folks (more managers, ICs, VPs) But I wonder what happens i

I think what you are answering is how a REPL works, the question is around running generic code in isolated/sanboxed environment.

I agree with you when you say in most companies "languages for teams" means "languages for the JVM" But I am curious, is that just out of familiarity or are there things that JVM ecosystem has that are just not there els

There are languages for teams, and than there are languages for individuals. Kotlin is a great language for individual productivity, but _can_ be terrible for teams. You can do the same thing in Kotlin in so many different ways that it make

I think Notion tries to do too much (a database? really?) and because of that it's not _great_ at any. Yes, at the end of it you can end up with pretty looking pages but the process is not fun. For example, you _can_ use Notion as Trel

Assuming what that article says is correct, that it isn't natural - what's the solution to this? Surely, everyone can't be a startup founder. Just curious how the world should work for that article to not exist.

Don't think it was a QA. https://techcrunch.com/2018/12/10/report-a-manager-at-ubers-... Also, when it comes to things like Self Driving, the line between a QA/dev is really not there. Both of them

Really digging the design. Feels extremely light and calm. Although, all those animations might get a little annoying with everything transitioning-in the page. Good work, though!

My experience has been different. "Academic Studying" can be hard with a full time job, and there is often a wide gap between what you learn in books and what you do at the job. For purely professional purposes, it's probably

Don't worry, it's completely normal. First few months can be hard. Especially if it's a Amazon where they will have no team specific on-boarding. I guess your best bet is to try to get help from peers, go for lunch with them

There's only one purpose of good brand identity and that's to be remembered. I don't see how this is more memorable than the beloved Gopher. Edit: Gopher is still the official mascot, though. So that's good.
