I agree that risk aversion, planning, and other factors are good preventative measures to avoiding homelessness. The contrary case I can think of is the child who is homeless because the parent is. I cannot rightfully view them as having fa

It is a failure on many levels - systematic ones, mostly. But if you read OP's post as not singling out the failure as being personally and solely responsible for their plight, rather than as a systematic failure, then we might simply

Your reply rubbed me the wrong way, as it implies that being poor, unemployed, or homeless are by definition failures. Perhaps you didn't intend that (or perhaps you do believe it). Not looking for a philosophical argument - just stati

I don't want to challenge too many points of your post here, but I have a couple questions: "This example also brings up another typical point of confusion in building distributed systems: people actually want "ordered proces

I don't know much about Facebook's current offerings, but the answer to your question might depend on what other ubiquitous services they offer now or in the future. Maybe they'll become equally entrenched in the online payme

Your last sentence was heart-breaking. Whether or not the list applies to you - whatever you've gone through - and whether you are somewhere along that autistic spectrum - none of them define you on their own. You are not the sum of ch

You may not be aware that in some jurisdictions (Quebec is an example), marriage is not a sufficient legal reason to change your legal name, yet most people informally identify with a spousal name change. It would seem like an overstep for

You're welcome to email me if you like - it's in my profile. Kafka and Samza are intended (generally speaking) to go hand in hand. Samza is a re-imagined datastore that Kafka can shuttle data into. I've been investigating Sam

Agreed. I'm not ready to embrace driverless cars yet myself, either, but in the long run automation probably increases safety. It's a bit of a callous view, but software mistakes can be fixed and ironed out - human mistakes are ha

We already trust software with our lives. Transit, medicine, navigation, finance. People have died because of software failure in the past, but it hasn't deterred adoption or advancement.

In your research, did you explore other common immunizations like bordetella, parvo, rabies? (I realize these wouldn't fit into any overlapping things like you have here, I'm just curious if you might add it at some point.)

No. Pedophilia is a psychiatric disorder or paraphilia; not a sexual orientation. This is thoroughly discussed and documented. The APA has changed any such notation in the DSM. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013&#
