Maybe, but there's probably something to be said for social cost that make that argument somewhat less valid. Herd immunity. Seat belt and helmet laws, etc. Note that I am not taking a position here on vaccinations or anything else, ju

I get the feeling like the idea behind Sam's experiment was to eliminate the notion of "unfathomable". Listen and discuss, acknowledge the views and beliefs of others where possible as valid, through empathy and open-mindedne

Fair enough. Opsec is not at all my domain of familiarity so I've no idea what challenges it might present to do it properly.

Perhaps not something insanely obvious like Grouch Marx moustache and glasses, but more subtle? I'm not really very well aware of how advanced face recognition, etc. is at this point in time though. But I'd guess anyone who cares

I think I misunderstood the last part of your original comment in the context of your first part. I understood it to mean that one should stop recording in an effort to survive or not get arrested, but re-reading it I do not think that'

Much better people than I have been dead or in prison in the name of preserving or gaining civil rights. And many more people are freer because of those people. Sometimes people have to die or go to prison so that others may live or be free

OT but I'd never come across the term "banjaxed" before. Thank you for introducing this to my vocabulary. I can't wait for my first meeting of the day today!

Your comment caught my attention - I am not aware of what this might mean. Genius went evil? Will you explain? Thank you! I haven't used the site in a long time and the last time was only to look up some song lyrics.

It's incomprehensible to me - after some time I just started parsing it as "Big Data, Cambridge Analytica, Brexit, Trump". It'd be better if it was just re-titled to use the article headline, I think.

On a hand by hand basis, sure. In freezeout tournaments, yes. In heads-up over 120k hands? No. This was not a lucky win. And I say this speaking as a one-time full time player in a number of formats. Variance does not explain this loss.

I guess what matters most is whether or not it's "ok" with you, or whoever you may be referring to. There's no single answer that applies to all situations, to all founders, to all employees. If it's not okay with y

I have tried to do similarly, although I do sometimes have a habit of carrying guilt a long time - and it can occasionally have the side effect of getting in the way of fully moving past mistakes and into doing better. It's something t

If it's unfair in any regard (and I disagree with GP that it's unfair on the merit of physical reads), it's that humans get fatigued and computers do not. Having played poker for stretches of 16+ hours I know that the number

That's a good point of view to take. If I hadn't made some of mistakes, I also may not have learned some valuable lessons - about myself and others.

I suspect you're right. I realize that I'm very lucky to have parents as good as I do, and just hope I can do as much for others in my future as they did for me. Including them, if and when they ever need it.

Not your fault, but your comment made me subtly sad that I haven't repaid the same sacrifice and commitment from my family with as much as they deserved. They too worked very hard to provide and give a good life for me, and through nai

There's debate on the terminology, so I'll credit your first point. But there are atheists who also study theology. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hector_Avalos is one such example.

I agree (and others do, too) that there should be a greater distinction between anthropological study of religion vs. theology - and it is argued by some that "religious studies" is more appropriate a classification of that than t

I'm going to disagree with the "or merit" part. For two reasons - the first being related to theology itself, and the other related to another field which is sometimes classified as being without scientific rigor - philosophy

Theology is the study of religion or things supernatural, not necessarily tied to a practice in any belief.
