you can do a lot with a prototype (zero cost) and a pitch deck. use angel list (angel.co) and other means to get the idea in front of investors. what are you building that would cost $5k the first month?

Agree with this one. Try to start the project with a designer. Design is something best consulted from the get-go.

i'm 32 and i'm married with 4 kids. i eat dinner with the family 5-6 nights a week, and am always there at night to wrestle and tuck the kids in. then i'm back to work til 4am or so. also i make a point to take my wife out every weekend.

haha, that is horrible. written agenda? but for my 8 year olds, they get pumped about new challenges and new places to live. i've had success chatting over a few burgers. they dont need to know about cash or conversions. just adventures

haha, yes, agreed. no doubt the % return is higher than pitching me a product i've never seen. my point is more along the lines of, i'd like to see ads serve me a little better rather than serve the advertiser. the priorities are advertiser

agree, dont think any name could pass every one. but if it fails a few, you know you have a bad name. the hardest is probably "Meaningful – customers 'get it'". google, apple, etc dont say anything about what the company does. microsoft

love it. as engineers we tend to think in terms of solutions. just ask my wife. but thinking in terms of users, of the consumers of our work, will always get us closer to the right solution.
