I agree with your post. Having said that, autopilot on airplanes is meant to be a "macro," rather than an autonomous flying function (in that they do not replace a human operator; in fact the pilot programs the instructions into t

I thought the same. Just a few weekends ago that silly Purge movie came out. Little did I know reality would follow.

If anything, Ford is facing many viable competitors than FB with respect to traditional and EV cars. The warning signs of FB rising were apparent for years, but the News Corp managed MySpace did nothing to curb its rise.

I can totally see stress as a major factor. Just the thought of financing some or all of college is stressful. Given that most parents want their kids to experience college, I can see that weighing on the minds of many parents.

Language is powerful in China. Wars were fought in China to unify culture. For example, the Chinese language in modern vernacular is generally not referred as a language in itself but referred as zhongwen, or "Chinese culture." T

I don't believe they hated democracy. I do think they had a dim view of people doing the right thing and mob rule. Hamilton wrote the above quote when he saw somebody being lynched in Albany.

Acknowledged and agreed. Still applicable, even if it's not directly attributed to Jefferson, it does sound like it is written in his spirit with respect to tyranny of the majority.

WTL is also great if you want or need something that doesn't use .NET. Building GUI apps doesn't suck with WTL. What I would like to see is an example of an app where I can build an app using both WTL/C++ and have Go code wit

The Microsoft LinkedIn acquisition seems to have positively signaled investor confidence, in spite of calls that the sky is falling. Whatever odds there were for a "bubble burst" are probably lessened by this purchase.

Seconded. File systems are hard and specs need to be finalized. Plus the grandparent post reminds me of the old Slashdot meme: ``No wireless. Less space than a nomad. Lame.''

Agreed. 500 calories from chicken or a lean protein like crab is very different from 500 calories from a pastry. What should be highlighted is amount of sugar and carbohydrates, not total calories. Not every calorie is created equally. In f

The thing with IGs (inspector generals) though is that they are also like HR--they serve to protect the government as an entity rather than the agents, just like HR serves the company, not the employee.

If we are going to have to have TSA, I'd rather have the private contractors run it than the TSA. No Stockholm syndrome; just thought they offered a better experience for the same thing than the TSA.
