I think it would be really effective and tongue-in-cheek if EFF released their app on Cydia.

Until there is a bank that can credibly hold onto BitCoin deposits, these sorts of things are going to hinder further the viability and credibility of BitCoin as a mechanism of transaction (Mt Gox seems to have done a ton of damage). As of

How does being a wildcard improve your chance of safety? There's a good chance some won't recognize it as such--elderly drivers have a slower response time.

I think the biggest concern about cyclists is the I-don't-give-a-damn attitude (entitlement). I understand the reasons to run a red-light when safely clear to do, but when the action affects other users of the road, such as on a busy

I didn't say motorcyclists aren't a wildcard. To be honest, I see motorcyclists often being pulled over for being unpredictable and think it's a good thing. However, motorcyclists do tend to stop at red lights--which can'

As a motorcyclist, I think cyclists should be held to the same rules of the law as other vehicles to make driving predictable and safe. As it stands right now, I have to assume cyclists (via heuristics/profiling) as a wildcard--will t

Just wondering, does this work with Windows API apps using WTL headers? This could be pretty amazing if that's the case.

I wonder if they'll have the Clang static analyzer running in the iPad or they'll parse the syntax through a server. In the former case would be really awesome, and possibly doable given the static analyzer is open source. Wonder

You're right--if it can't find memory within the heap, it will invoke a call to brk and it will allocate it from the OS and thereby invoking a syscall. Apologies for my lumping of malloc as a syscall :)

It's great to see resources like this popping up. When I was in school we used the Tanenbaum book, even if it was heavily skewed to his belief that microkernels were better (Torvalds and Tanenbaum fought in an epic flame war). At the U

Honestly, I think it is platform politics. *nix systems seem to prefer UTF-8, while UTF-16 is the default on Windows. Space and memory are cheap, so either encoding seems fine. The bottom line is that UTF-8 is awkward to use on Windows, wh

We constantly have to deal with Win32 as a build platform and we write our apps natively for that platform using wchar. I think the main difficulty is that most developers hate adding another library to their stack, and to make matters wors
