The title of the submission isn't clear. "[A]ny jurisdiction" implies those extralegal jurisdictions outside of the United States.

Exactly. In fact, $200,000 is a rounding error for a company with $150B in revenue.

Got it. I have never tried submitting an app that implemented my own controls other than using the iOS supplied ones, so I'm not speaking from experience.

[deleted] - I apologize for my misguided interpretation of 10.3, you may implement your own controls. I have taken your point via moderation. To all whom I have offended, I apologize.

That would actually be very interesting. Instead of drivers competing, it would be code competing.

What about tools like Docker or VirtualBox? Every time those high-frequency release software are updated, you need to request sudo using the audit tool or request for IT to update? I can't even imagine writing a kernel hardware driver

Straight from the horse's mouth--admire your product, Mr. Hykes! I love how you can run docker inside of a container. What I've done sometimes is run docker inside my build environment container. I use Docker Machine (OSX), so I j

How do corporate developers test and debug things without the root password? In some cases, you need to be able to start Visual Studio in UAC mode, and debug an already running process...

Wasn't Obama using a Blackberry device a few years ago? Granted the device he was using was likely hardened, but still raises interesting questions.

Are you suggesting that you can't backup with rsync? Because you can do full and incremental backups with rsync. In fact Time Machine on OS X looks like it does backups in this manner...

He actually was doing a remote backup (although probably not a cold backup). Unfortunately, he had used mount instead of rsync over ssh, making it vulnerable to the rm -rf command.

And then there's Quickbooks where next year's version is fundamentally the same, albeit buggier. They make their old versions not work with online banking or payroll after 3 years (payroll is an annual subscription too).

While I am not a lawyer, I suspect that a reasonable person would say that encoding the content in a string turns the link into the content rather than leading one to the content.

It would be nice if we could get Windows internally to use paths like / for the C drive and then use /mnt/d for the D drives, and use Bash as the default shell instead of cmd.exe. I suspect it will take some time, but if they

It seems like it addresses Linus's complaint about author verification, especially needed with a mission-critical project like the Linux kernel. I wonder if GitHub will have out-of-the-box support for pull requests by email. That would

I'm not a fan of the app launches from Safari. If I wanted to use their app, I would have opened their app. App launches (especially those opening up the App Store) seem eerily similar to pop up ads of the late 90s.

It shows quite a bit of wisdom that they've acknowledged the internal undocumented mobile API to be the greatest surface area for attacks. Even if they are certificate pinning, aren't there jailbreak ways to disable that?
