Atrociously bad by what metric? I was born and raised in Florida, as was my wife. We are both frequently impressed by how advanced our kids are, scholastically speaking, compared to where we were at that age in Florida. Edit: We now live in

This is fantastic. Thanks so much to your son for curating this list and creating the site. We will start working our way through these recommendations.

Why? Something about this specific implementation or do you mean in general? I've never created software that requires a license like this but it seems like it would add enough friction to prevent casual piracy.

Are goats everywhere? The handful of places I've lived (Central Florida and SF bay area) I've never seen a "wild" goat. Deer, sure. But deer seem to be much pickier than goats when it comes to their diets

I'm a _huge_ fan of leafy green vegetables. Unusual, I know, but I think of myself as something of an aficionado. Dandelion greens are among the most bitter I have eaten. I find it difficult to incorporate them. Edit: I had to look up

Interesting idea. They may very well see that as an added benefit but I suspect the reason for the big push now is due to the conservative supermajority in the supreme court.

Claiming survivorship bias really makes it sound like we are talking about something much riskier than getting a college degree. I didn't survive, I planned. I got a two year degree from a local community college for a fraction of the

Wut? Are those the only choices? Is there nothing in between? Lay off the drama. I don't feel like my degree was useless (and I'm not even working in the field I got a degree in) and I certainly didn't graduate with crippling

That's silly. Let's assume for a moment that it is possible to teach _only_ objective truths (goodbye arts, literature, philosophy, social sciences, etc) how will the little robots produced by such an environment succeed in life?

How in the world would something like this realistically work? Start with the assigned flat. If this is truly a universal benefit then everybody gets one whether they use it or not. What if I have a house, what do I do with my flat provided

It doesn't make sense, but yes, it was a thing people did say and continue to say. Apoorva Mandavilli, a science and health reporter for the NYT just yesterday (May 26) tweeted "Someday we will stop talking about the lab leak theo

We who? I've lived in mixed use buildings with bars, restaurants, and other small businesses on the first floor and apartments above. It was quite nice, I really enjoyed it.

My wife works in home building in the bay area. I can assure you that home builders want to build homes. The inability to construct new homes in the bay area is almost entirely due to objections from local commissioners and planning council

I rather like extension methods. I was not aware there was any controversy around them. Edit This wikipedia article suggests Java has extension methods, or maybe something functionally equivalent (I'm not a Java programmer): https:&#x

That's all well and good but it begs the question, who is going to draw a heart in the foam on my latte? Certainly not me, I'm a backend engineer.

In 2007 I visited Boulder with a friend and spent a night or two at his cousin's place. His cousin was a trainer for a cycling team. My memory is a bit faulty after 12 years but as I recall he had been Floyd Landis's cycling train

I saw a car with the club the other day - this first I have seen in I can't even remember how long. The car was in rough shape. Real rough. I mused to my wife that perhaps the car was there to protect the club.
