Speaking as someone doing a startup in Japan, this is a very enjoyable article. Richard is one of the few writers focused on the new wave of businesses, entrepreneurs and startup accelerators in Japan.

Yes, but it'd be great if you could register on Doorkeeper as soon as it's confirmed you're coming to help us keep track.

This time we're at a new venue - the event space at Super Deluxe in Roppongi. It is actually a huge space, so it should be very conducive to meeting people and having a chat. Here's a couple of images: http://www.shift.jp.org/guide/wp-cont

Is it true that you can start a business by understanding and solving pain points? Yes of course it is. People who are going through this pain and who are aware of this pain will also likely be motivated to talk with you and articulate thei

Easier for some people, harder for other people. It's hard to please everyone when you organise an event. We are looking to mix it up with more events both on weekends and weekdays, so stay tuned.

I'm excited for this one! We've managed to secure a very nice space overlooking Shibuya(thanks to GMO), with plenty more capacity so you can spread out, sit down, and enjoy good conversations. As always, we're trying to keep the event focus

I must admit to being a little disappointed to not see this article get as much traction as I expected on HN. I enjoyed the hell out of it, and I would love for HN to talk about this side of business and startups much more.
