Interesting if I do English to French on the following: Hello Sarah, what time is it? it translates to Bonjour Sarah, quelle heure est-il ? Now if I change the input to Hello Sara, what time is it? it translates instead to: Quelle he

This is slightly off-topic but how many 'connections' can an app make over a Unix socket and how would you manage an in-app connection pool like HikariCP or similar when using a Unix socket?

In the UK there's legislation (RIPA) that would probably result you staying in jail until you came up with the passwords or convinced a judge you genuinely couldn't for some reason.

The automated 'please open a ticket' response is hilarious. We need to start calling behaviour like this out - or just blackhole these DNS servers.

This is excellent and much needed. SAML is indeed a pain. Now my question is how safe/secure is your XML parsing? Because that’s been a source of vulnerabilities in other libraries.

Sheesh. You’d think Apple getting 30% would at least use their ‘cut’ to weed out the bad apples (sorry could not resist there) that would lead to long term damage to their own ecosystem.

Paywalled so can’t read the article but am familiar with this. Part of me thinks universities are in for a karmic boomerang in the COVID age and as more and more educational material is available for free/cheap. It used to be the case

Stuff like this - wow. We have to ask ourselves what these centralised platforms offer that decentralised ones like NNTP didn’t. Nice work and well done.

I am sure I read a while ago that there were pipeline projects both via Israel and Turkey? If that were the case then I'd imagine, the combo of Russia, Turkey and Israel as gas suppliers to Europe would be about as diversified as possi

Very exciting! Question: your homepage says it’ll always be Apache 2 but what will you do if someone like AWS rebrands your work (looking over at Elastic here)?

Hmm. But... Russia has nat gas. Germany wants nat gas. Russia wants to sell it. Germany is willing to buy it. All sounds rather simple and commercial to me. If there’s a concern about Russian influence then the only real solution is to inve

This looks really neat, cannot wait to read the paper to see the details. The other research db I saw recently I liked was sirix ( https://github.com/sirixdb ) - I can certainly see some room for cross-over between these two.

Godiva tried to expand too fast in my view and the quality of the chocolate is mediocre (compared to other Belgian chocolate) and priced too high. Starbucks made a similar mistake around the 2007 financial crash but seem to have recovered s

Lots of good points but ‘outsource’ here can mean a variety of things. We have SuperTokens (self-hosted or SaaS I think) and Keycloak (self-hosted only if I’m not mistaken) so most people don’t need to ‘roll their own’. But would I outsourc
