Even if Chrome did that, it wouldn't stop Edge from importing Chrome data and uploading it to Microsoft without asking permission.

Yes but how is that the fault of removal services? They can't do anything to stop the usual suspects from filing for a fresh corporation from Delaware each week.

OK so if Optery reports 330 removals, how many removals did they actually have to do on their end? A hundred? Thirty? Ten? Why should we care? If you pay a man to remove the snow from your driveway, would you be upset if he used a plow rath

Not possible. Open source code doesn't have limited power of attorney. Data brokers would also read its code and thwart whatever logic it uses to fill out forms.

Yes I agree there's a lot of interesting problems to solve and things to learn when it comes to modeling intelligence. Vernor Vinge was smart in choosing the wording that we'd have the means to create superhuman intelligence by

I don't use the A word, because it's one of those words that popular culture has poisoned with fear, anger, and magical thinking. I can at least respect Kurzweil though and he says the human brain has 10 petaflops. Blackwell has 2

Imagine that there's a little computer inside each neuron that decides when it needs to do work. Those computers are an implementation detail of the flops being provided by neurons, and would not increase the overall flop count, since

They're not guesses. We know they use A100s and we know how fast an A100 goes. You can cut a brain open and see how many neurons it has and how often they fire. Kurzweil's 10 petaflops for the brain (100e9 neurons * 1000 connectio

It's not a technical tradeoff, it's a refusal to compromise. Lack of frame pointers prevents many groups from using software built by distros altogether. If a distro decides that they'd rather make things go 1% faster for gra

I propose that a frame pointer daemon be introduced too, for managing the frame pointer signals. We shall modify _start() to open up an io_uring connection to SystemD so that a program may share its .eh_frame data. That way the kernel can s
