Leaving Facebook to reinvent Firebug is actually pretty baller, I gotta say.

I hope while they're fixing this they can fix the terrible, terrible, UI bug introduced in Skype 5 for Mac.

I think humans.txt is great, but it would be even better if the "standard" was to use a human/machine-readable format like YAML. The example on the website is really close to that. Yes, I know it's an ironic request.

Hats off to Mozilla for discovering that dealing with DHS is exactly like dealing with Righthaven and the RIAA.

I see it as basically a one-group incubator that already had a decent product prototype.

I would imagine DHS has their own lawyers on staff?

Well in this case, I think the stupidity attribute was probably declared on the parent class.

I kind of wonder why there isn't more outrage over stuff like this. I guess I'm either overreacting or people just don't understand it (or don't care).

I saw someone point out that DHS's seized domain page isn't very accessible due to just being an image. I noticed that the image is always named something generic like banner2.jpg and there's no other uniquely identifiable information in th

Is it just me, or does DHS really seem like a rogue organization that thinks they're above things like due process?

I was saying that kind of tongue-in-cheek, I think based on the team they've got they'll probably be able to make something cool.

It seems that way, especially since the alternative would just be a ton of touch-and-go landings.

Why can't you just do it because it's awesome? I can think of a lot worse things that people spend millions of dollars on (hookers and blow, yachts, Color, etc). When I get my $100 million exit, you can be damn sure I'm spending part of tha

Oh, I guess I would call myself a "burst typer", so I usually find it faster to just type all or most of the domain than to type one letter and check to see if Chrome got the right thing. But of course that requires a little bit of effort,

I took a really simple approach: removing HN, Facebook, Clicky, and Google Reader from my bookmarks bar. Having to type them in manually instead of compulsively clicking is enough to limit me to an hour or two of dicking around per day.

I really hope the tech industry starts taking off in Nigeria, because there seems to be quite a bit of misapplied computer expertise there.

Admittedly, I haven't read the Chicago Manual of Style in a while, but when did it become acceptable to use "pwn" in a headline without quotes?

Shipping a product (even if it's just a dumb little side project) is way more impressive to most people than contributing a patch to an open source project. I contribute to projects that I use as often as I can, but I've never had to point

I migrated a few Rails sites over from Slicehost to Linode, and since I was using Moonshine (which is a Rails-specific wrapper over Puppet) it was very easy. I just deployed to the Linode server with "cap deploy:setup; cap deploy", copied t

If you're putting your database on your feature page, you probably have other problems than scaling. It's not about "latest tech buzzword", it's about using the tool that is most appropriate to the job. Cassandra worked up to a point, but i

I don't think Stack Overflow's case is a case of "see, you can scale SQL databases". I think it's more of a case of "they've forced themselves to HAVE to scale SQL databases by tying themselves to .Net and MS SQL Server". There's nothing wr
