It looks really nice, but I don't see myself switching from command-line Git (except for maybe when viewing logs and/or diffs). This will definitely be awesome for working with designers though.

It's actually a pretty bad idea to use multipart in that way anyway, as having very different html and plain text content in your email is a flag for spam filters.

For some reason Python's indentation really bugs me, but I am totally ok with it in haml, sass, and yaml.

That's exactly the reason emails come in two parts (text and HTML). You can tell your client to only show plaintext emails if you're so inclined (just like you can tell Firefox to only use your own personal stylesheet). Personally, I prefer

Email clients shouldn't be more vulnerable than browsers these days, since I think most email clients use a browser rendering engine for HTML emails now anyway. There is always the risk of another WMF-style exploit though.

The reason it was such a bad idea before was that spammers used to want to figure out whether an email address existed and/or was active, and they would use a tracking image to do that. Now they have the bandwidth and processing power avail

You can already use the multipart/alternative MIME type for that (which is what HTML emails use), it's just a matter of email clients deciding that they'll show a Content-Type other than text/html if it exists. For example, you could use ju

While we're at it let's get rid of streaming HD video and all that cumbersome CSS and Javascript (it just slows down page load times, and why should websites be dictated by the owner's sense of design?).

It's not quite like rebuilding a classic car. It's more like a high schooler using the school workshop to fabricate car parts and building a car from his own blueprints. Sure, he may have purchased the speedometer and tires, but that doesn'

For me it's mostly the ease (or lack of ease) of managing tools and dependencies. Homebrew, RVM, Pow, zsh, MacVim (or TextMate if that's your thing), et al. are amazing, not to mention all of the built-in packages. I'm aware that some thing

Android isn't successful because of Linux, it's successful in spite of Linux. Google chose Linux as a base on which to build what is essentially a new operating system (much like Apple chose BSD to build iOS on). This is what a cellphon

I think this is why so many developers have switched to Macs. Development on Windows sucks (in my opinion, of course, unless you're making Windows applications), and with OS X you get the best of both worlds: the power and flexibility of BS

I'm not so sure about that, for me it was mostly just moving gems from environment.rb to a Gemfile and updating gems/plugins. After that, I fixed deprecation warnings and moved everything to AREL/scopes at a fairly leisurely pace.
