The "deserving homeless" are generally able to take advantage of resources that are available, like shelters, soup kitchens, etc. Although I hate that term, because it's bad enough that we're already divided by class in

This is kind of unrelated, but when you grab the graph with your mouse and make circles, the whole graph rotates along the line of sight axis. I've noticed this with many 3d things. Why is that?

It's also not completely accurate. The Sun is not the center of the planets' orbits, but it is one focus of their orbital ellipses. Also, using the Sun's reference frame is only an approximation due to forces from other stars

Let's also consider that it's probably more difficult for a homeless person to get a cell phone contract without a deposit.

I don't necessarily disagree, but I take a lot of pleasure in the actual act of cooking, especially when I have friends over for dinner. It's not something that I'd want to save time on by having someone else (or a robot) do

Blue Apron, to me it has the most variety and more interesting ingredients than the other ones I've looked at so far.

I used to like the idea of Soylent, but after subscribing to one of those weekly boxes where they deliver all the fresh ingredients and recipes to you, I've found a lot of enjoyment in cooking.

People like Stallman (and whoever would be his polar opposite) need to exist in order to establish the boundaries and give us a framework to finding a balance between egalitarianism and greed.

Which is silly, because instead of putting people to work doing meaningless jobs that can be done by robots, we should be focusing more on how we can take advantage of that efficiency to make life more meaningful as a society.

Ooh, thanks for posting this. I have a project that I forked so I could use the base code from it, but it really doesn't make sense as a fork and confuses people. (It's a deployment plugin, and my fork just installs a different pi

I use Git for everything nowadays, but I love this: "Git has taken over where Linux left off separating the geeks into know-nothings and know-it-alls. I didn’t really expect anyone to use it because it’s so hard to use, but that turns

You still need stuff from the commissary though, so unless someone is putting money in your prison account you'll need to get money somehow. I'd rather clean toilets for $5/month than some of the other alternatives (I don

Reading the synopsis on Wikipedia reminded me a lot thematically of Anathem, by Neal Stephenson. Also a great book, but I think it requires a broader knowledge of history, philosophy, math, etc. than a 14 year old might have had the opportu
