1) reddit renders fine for me now, zoom is consistent (Firefox 32, Android 4.4) 2) HN uses HTML straight out of 90s (tables nested three deep, spacer images to indent threads) so I don't mind them not focusing on trying to salvage it.

I'm using Firefox on Android 4.4 as my full-time browser, it is rather good most of the time. TBH HN is the only site I can think of that gives me trouble... and knowing the authors' attitude to HTML I'm prepared to accept th

I'm not sure how installing currently available apps compares to installing future core OS updates, can you explain what you mean?

Ah. Yeah possibly, if people are approaching it like they used to approach phones: what's there is what will work. Personally I come to smartphones from a x86 PC point of view, so not being able to reflash/reinstall whatever OS I

I was pretty surprised at microSD. Here I was, in the first world, being told that the reason microSD is being dropped from Nexus devices is that it's too difficult for software to support and users to understand. I'm a bit jealou

The bicycle is a 80/20 solution, but it's hard to make VC-level money in the business. Plus, a few more decades of high-tech short-distance personal transportation and we'll all look like in Wall-E and the bicycle will become

If you want to focus only on academics, engineering is a bad place to start. Mechatronics is a co-op program. Always has been. You've always had to do at least 5 work terms in the 6 available slots. Sounds like your friend picked a wro

The post is about SE in particular so I mentioned that. Obviously a CS degree can be made much more theoretical, downright to co-op being optional as mentioned elsewhere. (BASc-MTE '10 so I know the backstories.)

Why forbid it when you can just ignore it? E.g. Spanish government said they wouldn't recognize results of a Catalonia independence vote. (Whether they actually would is another matter.)
