To avoid confusion, they should have used the term "pure functional programming" or even "typed pure functional programming". That's what was used when I started learning FP, which was maybe three or four years ag

They should've probably said "FP-only" (i.e. pure) languages to exclude imperative languages that merely support functional programming constructs, like Clojure, Erlang, etc. Ahh, and there would be that definition again, t

This is ... much more politely and detailedly stated than I managed on Twitter. I work in FP, programming Clojure for real-world web applications every single day, and 90% of this list is completely meaningless to me. It's nothing less

The need of a constantly expanding market for its products chases the bourgeoisie over the entire surface of the globe. It must nestle everywhere, settle everywhere, establish connexions everywhere.

Ed said it[1] better than I could, so I'll quote him: This is a long way of saying to the people who support Trump (and therefore would never read this) that "Let's agree to disagree and keep being friends" is a poor st

I think TechCrunch's breakdown[1] rather does a good job of summing up all the times Thiel has made it plain that he and Trump have a lot more in common that the SV technolibertarian set here seems willing to admit. Thiel is providing

It's disingenuous to suggest, as you do in your tweets where you warn women and Muslims against joining YC, that because one of their partners donated to Trump and spoke at his convention, YC as an institution is now somehow poisoned

I'm a fan of the unix tools philosophy, but I sometimes wonder if there's much room for new tools to be added to that toolbox. I've always wanted to come up with my own general-purpose new unix tool. This was something of t
