No, it's totally a cool place, if that's what you're into. As a writer and a techie though, I struggled to even find anyone else on the network with similar interests, and of those, they seemed to wither away over time. The e

http://exercism.io supports Common Lisp, Scheme, Clojure, and Emacs Lisp, plus a ton of others, and runs through a neat little CLI app locally, so you can use your own editor (I've been doing Rust challenges in Emacs, frex.

Unfortunately, the Ello ecosystem seems more or less resist any non-artsy content like an immune system warding off a plague. They've quite thoroughly positioned themselves as an alternative to Tumblr photoblogs, and little else. The r

Fair enough. I'd not done the comparison myself, I use Racket myself.

True. There are a fair few packages in raco, but I think Chicken's eggs[1] may be a better bet for 3rd-party support just yet. [1] http://wiki.call-cc.org/chicken-projects/egg-index-4.html

Racket has an enormous standard library. I'm not gonna dare wave numbers around compared to Python, and I'm sure Java beats the both of them, but it's not small.

It's the syntax. The elementary nature of s-expressions makes it fairly trivial to mangle them freely, and define all kinds of clever tree structures and so on, all in an easy and consistent way. It also means you never have to remembe

The distinction is whether it's a question of freeing it for everyone's control, or merely trading foreign control for their own. Russia doesn't want GNU, they just want a Russian Microsoft that's in Putin's pocket

Amoral tech strikes again. Good luck with that; Russia isn't interested in software freedom, they're just not interested in something from outside Russia they can't control. EDIT: A friend informs me that the head of the proj

I was as recently as today quite curious to find that there was an implementation of Ocaml 2.00 for RISC OS, but alas, it seems to have been lost to the internet.
