Grad student, so I'm always looking for open-source or high-seas approaches to things. That being said, I support 2 people on patreon (<$5/mo) and I've got mullvad and the 99c iCloud plan. I've never seen anything I&#

Does this system require dates in the title like zk does? Seems fairly silly to have to specify the date every time you create a link

I found myself resorting to memory-palace-like approaches when doing anki in the past, which almost felt like cheating. I didn't keep up with Anki, but definitely felt my ability to remember new vocabulary improved as I learned new wor

Mostly anecdotes. My girlfried and I maintain a very similar schedule, yet she remembers details from months ago from events that I need to be reminded even happened. Books too, I'll read an entire book and really struggle to recall mo

I'm consistently surprised at how many people, both in these threads and irl, assert there is no "grey area", and argue that a fetus goes from being 0% baby to 100% baby the instant it is born and no sooner. To me, there is a

Julia is a great language, but the ecosystem is lacking in quite a few areas, especially for Deep Learning. I'd love if we could get something like Rllib for Julia, but right now, ReinforcementLearning.jl isn't even able to handle

This is an entirely new type of product developed with a completely new type of technology that our existing laws were not designed to handle. A lot of folks seem to want Copilot to exist under one existing legal concept or another, but I t

That’s what I initially tried for fd, but unfortunately glibc is required for it, and probably other utilities as well.

I agree. If these could be made installable without root, and independent of the current version of glibc, then there is huge potential to replace the older tools. I’d love to use things like fd, but they don’t work on older servers without

Was just about to say this, I’m so excited for Gitea to get federation support and think they could really give GitHub a run for their money. I think a lot of major foss projects would switch over to a self hosted instance if it didn’t requ

With the fediverse, I think people need to drop the notion that they expect people they already know to be on the platform. Specifically Mastodon: If you log on expecting to find the people you follow on twitter, you are in for a bad time.

In a time of active war, people's opinions shift. I wonder if this is a temporary or permanent ban. It seems like a short-term solution to keep a lid on Russian propoganda, which seems sensible if it is to be lifted after the conflict.
