I agree that good planning software would offer the ability to tie into a curated bank of resources. The ones I have seen are spotty, and understandably so. Wikipedia works, in part, because there can only be one article about any given t

An interesting piece of ed tech to think about is lesson planning software. Most teachers put a tremendous amount of time planning their lessons, but still write their lesson plans using word processors. There are all kinds of problems in

I love this idea, because there is so much room for improvement in the field of ed tech. There are some pretty interesting questions to answer, many of which are a mix of social/ business/ ethical/ technical considerations. For example, w

When I visit a landing page, I want to know quickly what it's about. There is some excess wording - How about changing "Are you like me and..." to "Do you..." I don't know that I'd use this, but I could see the usefulness if I looked at a

How about the opt-in model? For example, after someone actually gets a job that they found through your service, they could have the option of letting your app post to their wall. Something along the lines of, "I just landed a new job by

I don't use any app that insists on posting on my wall. I will spread the word about your project if I am satisfied with it, but I will not use your project if you insists on spreading your word through me.

You won't get far with a mediocre product, so you have to be able to do at least one of them very well. That said, a second project can be a break from the first one. Don't let doing both distract you from doing either one well enough to

Thanks, I thought it would be easy to give a ballpark answer. I will keep an eye out for a discussion of scaling in regards to server needs. Actually, if anyone can point to such a discussion on HN I'd appreciate it. I couldn't easily find

I'm thinking of projects like codecademy. Something that uses a framework like rails or django. Something that needs a moderate amount of storage, but not a photo or video site where storage is the focus. Not just static html.

Thank you for the link. It sounds like a founder should be able to negotiate a reasonable living wage, assuming the founder is going to work full-time on the project.
