Salaries in Israel aren’t that high. His employees will easily find work in another company. What a dumb move by him.

If I were to host Elixir, I don’t think I would opt for docker. This is the one thing that prevents me from trying out fly.io

I’m in agreement with you that the performance is only a part of why Svelte is so nice. The state management in Svelte is fantastic.

I don't think data centers count as end users. End users are human beings that use a system.

There is a book called Visual Thinking by Williemien Brand which goes over drawing basic things. I love it because the author did amazing research into how to draw things with the least effort. I use it to supplement my notes. The beautiful

Perhaps a notable difference would be the civilians that could come into proximity of the target from the point of deploying to the point of executing.

This is very true. We had a $1m/year customer that dragged us down. I went over the development costs that were exclusive to that client. It was not worth the money. We were developing custom features. They since had to dump a lot of t

I was in a very toxic workplace for the last ~18 years. It's hard not to appropriate bad behavior. It definitely comes from the top. From people yelling at you in front of your peers, to the not-so-subtle threats. Purposely sabotaging

Protection from ransomware is another. If they lock down the server that runs this app well enough, it's significantly more secure than production access to every developer.

It seems like they're advertising their vault service for healthcare data. They then offer a disclaimer that they are not lawyers. How can you offer advice for such a risky area and then not stand behind it? Is your service also not ve

One of the things to consider when comparing C# and Go is how it does parallelism. In C#, the new async/await mechanism can go horribly wrong if the programmer doesn't use it correctly. This can cause threads to start up, which is

You could use the atomic package and forego the lock. You can also have a go routine with a channel that receives the counter messages. No need for a lock there. But use it if you really need it. Likely that’s not your bottleneck.

We actually just worked on splitting it up into libraries. The shared library might actually make the ending build larger due to it being potentially duplicated (I'm not certain about this until I test it). Unfortunately that has to go

That would make my day. I have a 64GB RAM PC because I work on 2 or 3 angular apps at a time and since my PC is the fastest I also use it for CI builds on occasion. It's a nightmare to wait 20 minutes for an optimized prod build. And h

I wish the Angular team put some work into integrating. They are instead doubling down on webpack which is frustrating. After they back stepped regarding the bazel build system I thought that all was lost. Then this beauty came out. Unfortu

I built a real time trivia game in FastAPI. I liked everything about using it except for the websockets. It leans on other libraries and I has to figure out my own redis integration. In the end it was only about a day of delay so no biggie.

Did you read the blog post? They are mad about trademark violation and an allegation that their commercial code has been ripped off by Amazon through a third party. They have Elasticsearch trademarked and you can't use their name with

I don't think you need to do that. Assuming a web application... You can instantiate the object in your main func and then attach it to the server struct so that it is available in every request. When mocking, you can create a mock ser

The last comment stated that Amazon recently spent a lot of effort ripping out Oracle. I would be interested in knowing how that was done and how much better things got afterwards.

I found your comment very funny. These things are created by GANs (Generative Adversarial Networks) which work with a generator and a discriminator, which is an AI to detect fakes. So it is actually made with an AI that detects fakes. If yo

That’s really funny to me. One of the criticisms I’ve read about Amazon is how they destroyed diapers dot com. There could have been several other sites all worth billions of dollars without the need for a single one stop shop.
