I wonder how hard it would be to create a STUN server for netbird.

Tailscale is P2P which is nicer than a VPS as a hub and spoke approach. But one thing that Tailscale didn't do well (at least early on) is performance. It's user space Go, which seemed to cap the data transfers when I tested it ou

Removing the diamond shaped update chain is pretty huge. It also removes a lot of the entry cost to getting into Angular. RxJs is steep.

This reminds me of the one lady from my previous job that lost her daughter. We held a fundraiser at work. She made a lot of money out of it. Then she lost her niece. It was so sad to have misery strike twice. Until she lost another niece.

Add a `String.Equals(thing, thing2, StringComparison.OrdinalIgnoreCase)` in your where clause and now you're full table scanning. LINQ makes things easy, but has traps.

From my point of view, the comparison to object oriented code is to compare how abstractions hold over time and over changes of features naturally. OO requires the programmer to make assumptions that create a maintenance burden. Elixir/

There was a paper published about making SQL server transactions distributed. But one of the authors was lost at sea. That was the last I heard of it.

The best engineers I see farm out the easier issues and even some of the hard work. But they supervise and mentor. Counting lines of code disincentivizes mentoring.

So far there is a pretty serious tempo at my FAANG but the complexity is not very high so it’s really simple work in terms of stretching the brain. Lots of working with other teams (XFN) so collaboration is almost as important as execution.

They have ACLs. You can use those. Then don't enable Taildrop on certain machines. The enterprise option is nifty. I'm gonna use it for my next startup. I find it to be pretty freaking amazing. But if you're suggesting that h

I believe it’s to sell ads and show the advertisers that ads were sold. Not to sell user data to advertisers. That sounds wrong.

I was in the physical therapy space for over 15 years. The penny pinching that comes from healthcare giants towards their software vendors are dreadful. It prevents any serious software engineering from happening. One customer billed over a

I have this book. I found it to be very unnecessary in my leetcode journey. What worked for me is repetition. It’s mostly just pattern matching. I got into three faangs recently so my strategy worked for me.

I have the air and the pro. The air is plenty fast but can be difficult when you have large RAM consumption use cases such as doing front end workloads. It also can have some visual lag if you’re plugging into a larger monitor. The pro, tho

I recently had a discussion with a former Netflixer about keeping track of user views. It’s important to pick up where you left off and is likely important to pay the owners of the movies. It’s a very hard problem to solve. The data is high

This seems very suspicious to me. They’re comparing performance to a tutorial blog post that is extremely inefficient. How about comparing it to. Levenshtein automaton or another state of the art approach?

That sounds like a reasonable point of view. But it could be that they are just trying to up sale their other services and can more easily do so if it’s bundled in an already used app.

Even in single threaded mode it’s fast. I think the main idea is that it creates an AST only a couple of times and then caches it so that the AST can be reused. Webpack on the other hand gets engulfed by its plugins which often do so multip
