There is (or at least used to be) an option on your iPhone that forces the messages to be sent and received over SMS rather than iMessage. I wonder if one could turn on that option on their old phone before switching numbers. There was a fa

There is a difference between having the ability to spy and using it en mass without warrants. Tampering with routers gives the NSA the ability to spy. The question of whether or not data is being collected illegally should not be confused

Honestly, I tried to work with Dart. I hit a few stumbling blocks during the tutorials. One difficulty was javascript interop. I also remember the drag and drop tutorials not working when I downloaded the code from github. It is really good

Please don't insult his writing style. That's an ad hominem attack and it is the only thing in this conversation that doesn't belong here. You don't have to agree with his concerns, but please cut that out.

He's not saying that you have false conclusions. He's saying that you have false pretenses. It appears as though you are new to the language, porting over some javascript code. The truth is, you are not new to Dart at all. I belie

More than that, he was scraping private resources that were freely populated. He was not robbing content creators of their money. He was circumventing a paywall to what should be free data.

Paintcode is like a niche photoshop for iOS. You draw graphics inside the program and it gives you the custom drawing code in objective c. The use case is if you decide to draw something custom in iOS like a specialized progress bar or a co

What a beautiful story. I come here to Hacker News to get tech related aggregated content. The kind of thing that you don't go out looking for but still say "Ooh, that's interesting". I really don't want to relive m

When I'm trying to introduce my baby to his grandparents overseas and he can't really make them out, I really feel the loss. They sing to him and he can hear it alright, but I also want him to follow their faces. If the connection

Golang is a programming language that applies for readability over language features. Built in channels make it easy to break down your code into more granular pieces. It's like the unix approach to piping but in a program. Reading a g

I have a problem with his extensibility critique. I don't agree that having generic types are good for the language. The problem in using polymorphism is that your users are going to abuse polymorphism. There will be class hierarchies

I use nginx + upstart to keep my golang process up and running. When I asked about it on the golang irc channel, people said that they just use golang without a reverse proxy. I personally like the ssl termination that nginx offers. I belie
