For this data to be useful, I think we first need to establish that people who use Facebook and participate in its surveys represent a relatively random sample of the general population. Or adjust for all the ways in which it does not. Ot

Wow. So they can’t even take the time to write their own thoughtful reply to their constituents on heated issues? They simply plagiarize the work of others or pay some intern to do it? How insulting. What the heck is wrong with these politi

Sigh, another feel-good law being proposed with no consideration for second or third order effects. Tech companies would be required to police their systems for this data. There’s no good automated way to do this, so an army of compliance w

I noticed this too. For me, diet was the main culprit in my inconsistency. My armchair theory is that either fluctuating blood sugar levels during sleep or imbalance of gut microbiome are the cause. A mild ketogenic diet worked wonders for

I definitely agree with you, but I want to see more data. Without broad testing it’s difficult to ascertain the true death rate of the virus (many infected are asymptomatic). But my hope is we can come up with similarly effective measures (

You make a valid point. At the same time, economic problems affect everyone while it seems that covid-19 harm scales with age. No easy solutions to be sure, but I have hope more data becomes available soon so we can implement more nuanced p

It’s much easier to quantify the harms of allowing business as usual and letting the infection spread (namely # of deaths) than it is quantifying the cascading repercussions of a massive global economic meltdown. Accordingly, world leaders

We have great weather here in the Bay Area but are often confined to offices to get our work done because of sunlight glare on our laptop screens. I've always thought more people would choose to work outside if their laptop had a decen

I don’t mean to hate on ECMAScript, but is anyone else slightly surprised these features weren’t in earlier? Like I wonder how many bugs were introduced because the developer didn’t realize Array.sort() was unstable.

The main limitation office workers face when working in sunlit environments is the reflective glare on most, if not all, computer displays. I conjecture if/when e-ink displays match conventional LCDs in response time and resolution the

Most things that "run on CPUs" run on CPUs by many vendors. In the cases where software does not run on ARM processors it's almost always due to an architectural difference with x86, not an artificial proprietary limitation.
