Good, I recently had the displeasure of trying to find a specific Audiobook while on my phone on holiday. Every Audiobook app/service games the system with Google keywords when you do a Google search for the Audiobook indicating that t

This. I think I would actually give up on reddit without apollo, the official app and website are user-hostile. I wonder if they will tighten the API up and eventually kill third-party clients.

Hadn’t noticed until I read some news about it this morning, I use HN and occasionally reddit. For messaging I deleted Whatsapp this year and use Telegram, Signal and iMessage.

Ideally yes, you’d make some effort to make your app accessible by a screen reader.

Firebase is offline-resistant more so than offline-first I’d argue.

Basically you take the word stem, add the asterisk and then append the female ending, you pronounce it by putting a stop where the * is and then saying the feminine ending (at least that’s how I’ve seen it done). This probably wouldn’t work

German is also developing (unofficial) gender-neutral nouns using an asterisk ending but I think it’s also an open discussion about how best to handle it. It’s mostly often seen when referring to a person’s role, position or job in a way th

Why can’t we do both? 15% less energy use for our software, scaled up actually sounds like a pretty big win. Less charge cycles also means a battery lasts longer before needing to be replaced. If programmers have the tools to easily profile

It’s an open question and ultimately depends on your app. For our mobile app we try to merge simple changes automatically and for trickier ones we allow the user to merge or select changes with a UI, a bit like git. We try to keep our objec

Yeah same. Doesn’t work in parts of my apartment or Treppenhaus or Hof at all, also doesn’t work in shops for some reason which can be surprisingly annoying if I quickly need to look up something for a recipe or message my girlfriend to ask

So you can in no way see how the phrase might make someone feel uncomfortable and that it might just be easier to use another phrase, which, OP already said they’d noted and are fine with doing? If it’s not an issue then phrase it different

Go maybe, especially for tooling, backend and ops work, from my perspective Rust will take a while longer employability-wise but probably still worth learning.

Got me thinking about that too and doing some googling I didn’t find anything that fits perfectly into what OP wanted to express. I suppose it’s best to rephrase it entirely.

Poor Foodora being extorted, forced to pay a living wage and provide better working conditions. I’m sure the other workers you’re referring to are really upset that they’ll now receive compensation for equipment and a higher hourly wage.

The Foodora workers who unionised and won a better contract in Norway were never self-employed, they were always on part-time contracts. What they achieved was for their equipment (bikes, smartphone and clothing) to be compensated by their
