Yeah the hipsters ride ill-fitting vintage steel racers now, some of the girls look so uncomfortable straining forward to reach the brake leaver. Fixed gear has gone back to being for a few enthusiasts and messengers and other bike weirdos

Anecdotally we're able to differentiate ourselves by offering a native mac app over what our competitors offer but it's a niche, mac-heavy industry.

Any info on what the reasoning was here? I would assume there's a technical reason they couldn't do it rather than a business decision.

It's hard to answer this question - good in what way exactly? I'm on a 16" M1 MBP, compile times are a lot faster than my intel machine but still pretty slow if I'm being honest - I know this is a focus point for Swift 6

It depends what you want to do, if you're playing around building apps for a hobby and friends and family and you can target Monterey, you could go with SwiftUI and Apple's official tutorials (it runs on older versions but a lot i

I know where you're coming from but I take a less pessimistic view, people are still making really great, first class apps for the Mac and will continue to do so as long as Apple provides a development environment for the platform. Cra

There are plenty of good arguments for Electron or using web tech but this one never really sticks for me. Users indeed care if the software runs slowly or is missing functionality, shortcuts or accessibility features they're used to b

As someone who sells software in the App Store I tend to agree with you although I'll add that for the majority of us it's 15% not 30% and they do handle a fair bit more than just the payment processing.

Ah! We're putting all our business logic in it, I guess I misunderstood what OP was asking and assumed they meant something else, that's why I mentioned we built our own version of it internally.

Is this actually hell on UX or is that something product people and designers tell us because it’s in their personal interest to create custom solutions for every webapp? iOS apps pretty regularly defer user actions to OS level controls and

I use it for a side project, I had to disable a lot of it’s useful features to get anything resembling performance out of it. A lot of this seems to stem from Pydantic though but is in no way as fast as Go out of the box and I also feel the

I do something similar for language learning, every new tab in Firefox shows a flashcard. If I'm in the middle of something I can ignore it but when my minds already wandering I tend to notice the word there, hopefully it helps.
