For me, "speak out" implies mostly unsolicited statements of opinion. Negative or positive does not play a role. Replying to a solicited survey does not constitute speaking out. Representing the results of a survey as a mass &qu

Can someone please moderate the title? The actual blog article title is "Java 8 Survey Results". The given HN title of "More than 2800 developers speak out about Java 8" is misleading, if not an outright lie.

There seems to be little comment about actual "choice". A lot of comments on this site and the original news site seem to be either "I hate SD cards because..." or "I love SD cards because...". The question to

I wish Microsoft would stop using language like "he saw how clearly Microsoft empowers people to do magical things". It makes it sound like Microsoft people are still off in la-la land, continuing to create interfaces like Metro f

Perhaps consider changing that font (Tuffy) to something that renders half-decently on Windows. It's just an eyesore in Firefox and Chrome. It does look OK on Linux though.

That much is already clear. I'm more interested in comments from those who appear to think Bitcoin/Zerocoin is an "infinite good": https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=6806395

Playing the devil's advocate here: In 30 years time, you consider retiring, and you have a significant portion of your savings in Zerocoin. Someone, somehow, manages to fraudulently acquire your Zerocoin savings, perhaps through a flaw

This seems to me to be more a problem of rampant abuse of forfeiture laws rather than a failure of structuring laws. The many stories I have read recently of "forfeiture corridors" in the USA would seem to reinforce that.

That is not what structuring is at all. Structuring is conducting transactions in a way that will avoid triggering reporting requirements. If the legislation in your country requires financial services providers to report any cash transacti

IMHO this a far, far better design than Apple's. The saturated colors in Apple's design are just too garish. Some of the app and icon designs are really messed up, as the OP notes. (e.g. Notes, Calendar). How did Apple's Game

Is it just me or is "Compression Ratio" a poor label for the graph in that article? Normally, when one uses "Compression Ratio", it is the opposite of those numbers, i.e. EXT3 storage would be 1:1, ZFS-LZJB would be 2:1 (not 0.5), and ZFS-g
