Although I'm fairly indifferent about app.net I could read Dalton Caldwell's blog posts all day. He's a clever guy that puts across his points well.

Yeah I hate that point too. I think a better solution would be to sit down with a co-worker and talk it through, rather than having to ask some god-like "architect" who knows everything about a system.

I'd love to see a Kickstarter project for this so that author can be funded and complete the implementation.

Something I find really strange/frustrating with a few recent frameworks (Laravel included) is their overuse of static methods. You have these singletons floating through the framework which maintain state (Request, Session, Logging etc) bu

Great article. As a super techy guy something which really sticks out for me (and which has been confirmed by my day-job recently) is how key marketing seems to be. You can have the crappiest product but with the right sales team its possib

If that's the case then they definitely need to make things clearer. There's only one mention of it on their homepage and nothing in the FAQ.

I think the author has totally missed the point of jQuery which is why he's probably so frustrated. It's not meant to be used to build massive client-side applications, instead it's a tool to make dealing with the (terrible) DOM and AJAX AP

If you're running a version of PHP which is patched with Suhosin ( http://www.hardened-php.net/suhosin/ ) you'll already be protected from the DoS vector outlined in the article. By default Suhosin limits the max number of $_GET/$_POST/$_CO

Suggestion: Make the URL hackable. If I go to http://traceroute.im/ycombinator.org I should see a traceroute for ycombinator.org. Check out http://who.is for good example of this.

I hate to be a grinch but this seems a bit lower quality than the usual doodles. The whole thing reminds me of a 1998 Geocities site.

They are introducing shorthand notation for arrays in PHP 5.4 using the [] syntax. For whatever crazy reason using {} notation hasnt been implemented for objects. I really wonder what the phpinternals team are doing sometimes.

Why is the article comparing PHP (a language) to RoR (a framework). There's plenty of good PHP frameworks which have emerged over the past few years that take care of the boilerplate code needed for a web app. Symfony 2.0 was a released a
