This is your own painting with a massive brush. Obviously people who devote a lot of their lives to figuring this stuff out know there is not one solution. It's important to at least create a hierarchy of species that we've evolve

I don't want to start an argument but you are splitting hairs. It is quite clear from his disclaimer that he is an intern and it is pretty obvious to most people around here what that means socially within his company. You don't n

Yep and you know a shell will be on whatever device you want. I've even got it tightly ordered so it creates an SSH key, waits for me to go to GitHub and then I resume and it pulls all my repos down along with dot files.

In my experience a lot of people who post on hn have a shallow view of how technology relates to a diversity of people who use it. Most are coders for a company who make web apps, or business applications or have been in coding long enough

I used a bash script with homebrew to reimage my MacBook fresh. With cask I can get almost every app I need and reinstate python and necessary packages. As you're working on the command line you can also modify most settings with defau

Programming sound is hard. Real-time stuff is almost always coded in C or C++ because it needs to be performant and latency is always a consideration. One dropped sample can be heard and you can't afford to delay because things need to

This is great! Thanks for your work. Can V be integrated into existing c++ projects? I work in audio and constantly working in c++ is tiring. I'd love to work in something like V and transpile down.

I personally don't want to have kids and don't see that changing. Although I don't see how your suggestion isn't 'prozelytizing' as well, it is much easier to change your diet (even partially) than to possibly

I don't get this. You don't have to do anything you don't want to on the internet. Seems like the previous utopia you are referring to people were making the programs/features/facilities to do more stuff. I go on my

To anyone reading this and thinking - well what can I do? Become vegetarian. TODAY. I eat 95% vegetarian now and I don't notice the difference whatsoever, if anything, I don't crave meaty foods anymore. The 5% is once a month kind

There are ways similar to what you've described and certainly doesnt even have to be that clever. Just adding a small random offset using uniform white noise helps. People go to immense ends to get their programmed drums to sound good

I had the same inclination as you. Dropbox was cooking my 2015 Macbook Pro. What I can tell you might reduce research time. Google Drive has no differential sync. Any changes you make re-upload the whole file. This is a hard no for me. Also

Technological proficiency is very distributed too. Some people are really good at web apps but have no idea how to program in a compiled language. There is so much out there and its not really feasible for everyone to know about everything.

To me this thread encapsulates why over engineering is bad. We don't need complex solutions to the problem of re-usable cups. We don't need an external company that will sanitise a returnable mug for you. The solution is right in
