I'm not sure what it is either. But I did just start really consuming podcasts this year, so I am a member of the consumption side of this Renaissance, even if I have no insight to the systemic patterns that caused it.

That would be a little thing called wishful thinking. Personally, I think the reason people aren't up in arms is pretty clear. People get up in arms about things that harm them -- oppressive governments (Arab Spring), desperate economi

A few things. 1. 6'1" @ 215lb is not that bad. I'm 6'4" and 195lb. Morbidly obese would be like 250lb+ at your height, at least in the US. 2. If you start with light weight and follow the linear progression of a pro

Maybe its just bro science, but most natty lifters talk about the importance of squats in terms of the additional testosterone released by growing the largest muscle group. Ex. http://breakingmuscle.com/strength-conditioning

I doubt there has been anything on Stronglifts in particular. Strength training[1] in general and progressive overload[2] in particular is pretty well-supported, as far as I know. Stronglifts is just one of many schedules of weight training

I have never heard of that. To my understanding, the important elements are: - Recovery doesn't take seven days. - Squats target the biggest muscles. - The biggest muscles produce the most testosterone, enabling you to ma

Believe it. I'm not strong though. Maybe when I'm repping 300 it'll be hard to do it three times a week. At 245 it is not a big problem.

I tried the seven minute workout for a little while and saw no improvement in any dimension. This[1], on the other hand, has gotten me some significant results so far, five months in. [1] http://stronglifts.com/

I thought that yummyfajitas' point was that fundamental analysis doesn't work, like all public forms of stock market analysis. Financially illiterate people are even less likely to understand that, which means that making the &quo

It doesn't seem like it should be that hard. Calculate the percentage of traffic that uses a street in each direction. If more than 10% of it is going in the opposite direction on a one-way street, flag that street for human review.

Sure, but "we don't know, therefore let's provisionally go the MRA's unsourced claims," is not a sound interim position.

This is only really true in a purely logical argument. In rational arguments, like the one we're having now, source does affect posterior expectation. That is, someone of unimpeachable character and a history of reliability saying &q

Many people who get into programming, do so because they either want to make games, or like computers because of games. This was widely true among my CS class at WashU, and also many of the professionals I currently work with.

The views in that comment are completely unsubstantiated. There was no evidence presented that "data processing" was ever taught as part of or categorized as computer science. In fact, later comments debunk that viewpoint. Also
