Just before Covid when everything was cancelled I booked some tickets through Kiwi and it was the worst decision - I spent year (!) getting my money back. I'm not saying Ryanair is a good company, but for their flight (i.e. one of thos

Raising kids is expensive, and today young people can't afford their own home - how can they have children? Sure, other things may also be affecting this, but IMO raising inequality correlates very well with lower birth rates (at natio

I'm assuming John Ousterhout's book A Philosophy of Software Design [1], which I would recommend reading before reading about design patterns, because it's more fundamental. [1] https://news.ycombinator.com/it

Exactly what I experience. I don't need AI to generate complex algorithm, I need e.g. a lot of code for a UI library that is clean and maintainable - but it's can't ever generate such code and it can't be prompted, becau

If HBO could make a new season of Game of Thrones every year, I don't see what is so complicated about Andor's production.

AFAIK Andor was supposed to be 5 seasons, and the story for seasons 2-5 was squashed into season 2, because the production was too long, because that's how it goes these days in streaming.

I don't know, that metaphors doesn't hold. I still like going to a local theaters (not multiplexes!) few times a year, the screen is much better than any TV, and the whole experience is overall nicer (beer on tap, etc.). TV can be

Swallows and Amazons is on the list? My favorite book; when I was a kid I read Czech translation published in 1930s, so I shouldn't be that surprised it's entering public domain.

React Router v4 was released in March 2017 (more than 8 years ago!). v5 was released in May 2019 with no API changes. v6 was released in November 2021 with a new API based on React hooks (this API was much better than the previous). v7 was

This is what they should have done: what is now React Router v7 should have been Remix v3, and what is now Remix v3 should have had a new name - it's a new framework that ostensibly makes different choices, new name is a must! They tol

Yes, S2 is still the best. Few years ago I finally finished all missions, the only thing missing is a more detailed story; but that's how it usually was in the 90s I guess.

Don't worry, it doesn't matter, because at best a lot of claims in this books just cannot be replicated, and at worst the book is completely useless because it's based on shitty science - depends on your POV.
