It would make sense, but Apple has large amounts of disdain for people having fun with their products. This evidenced by the large amounts of engineering they've put into very large, capable, and efficient GPUs, only to squander them

As far as I understand, there's actually an intermediate driver on macOS that implements Vulkan on top of Metal, similar to how Proton implements Direct3D on top of Vulkan. The available low-level API is Metal, and the existing softwar

It's not at all about looks, it's about a different kind of handling, for off road, that's mutually exclusive with on road handling. Yes, some people choose to emulate off road appearances, such as with fake bead locks and

What current mass production EVs use hub motors? It seems a lot more sensible to have the motors inboard, mounted to the chassis, and drive the wheel(s) with axle shafts. It seems in my searching this is how nearly all EVs are currently des

Lifting an off road vehicle isn't ironic at all, nearly every characteristic that makes a vehicle good on road makes it bad off road and vise versa. Increased height makes for increased ground clearance and improved break over angle. S

Practically speaking, very few systems actually support SystemReady. There's an experimental port of edk2 for the Raspberry Pi, but some hardware is unavailable when using it.

Learning things is good. I also find I care more about the outcome and timeline than many professionals do, because I have to deal with the end result. That's not to say professionals can't or won't do the job better, or that

I wasn't trying to make any jabs, just an observation that getting outside of your comfort zone can be novel and interesting, even if it's mundane to people that commonly spend lots of time there.

I suppose when your accustomed level of abstraction is interpreted languages like JavaScript, and "the web", "gluing some libraries together in C" is a somewhat novel and interesting endeavor.

It works on the GPU, and the NPU is supposed to work on Windows using a framework called lemonade (I haven't tried), but the NPU is not supported with the same software stack on Linux yet.

How's Microsoft's Direct3D moat working out for them now? It's turned out to have been much less of a moat than it once was. Triple-A titles that are developed for Windows using Direct3D 12 are getting support on Linux throug

I mean, virtualizing with good hardware acceleration and integration can kind of be the best of both worlds, right? You're not replacing macOS, you're supplementing it with FOSS software that you _may_ find more tolerable, and if

I think the problem is that there's not a single identifiable problem. There's a series of related problems caused by manufacturing and engineering decisions that lead to parts not interoperating as designed. For example, Sig offe

Carrying a chambered gun in a holster covering the trigger is not negligent. It's how millions of military, law enforcement, and civilians carry on a daily basis.

I agree and disagree. A holstered pistol is intended to be treated, for all intents and purposes, as deactivated and "on safe" for practicality reasons, even when loaded. Plenty of people carry loaded guns pointed at their bodies

The P320 absolutely has design and manufacturing flaws. The P250 fire control unit was shoehorned into a striker fired pistol when they should've gone back to the drawing board like they did with the P365, which doesn't have these

It's at least partially a design and engineering problem. Sig shoehorned the hammer-fired P250 fire control unit into the P320, which is striker fired. The P250, being hammer fired, uses a fully cocked hammer capable of setting off a p
